I picked this book up prior to day one of clinicals in medical school. Now 5 years later in residency I still refer to it on a regular basis. This is color coordinated and easy to follow sections on conversions, common normal lab values, progress notes, discharge summaries, H&P's, OP notes, Mini Mental Status exams, and neuro exams plus many more tidbits. I picked this up for 7 dollars at my bookstore, saved me many times at 2am on call. Get this, it will help you on all services. A gold standard of easy reference.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cheaper from manufacturer June 19, 2012
Format:Spiral-bound
First of all, this is an excellent manual. Nice and thin with just the pertinent stuff that you'll want accessible in your pocket. Not like all of those bulkier options, I actually carry this one in my nurse scrubs.

You can buy this directly from the manufacturer for $7. Not sure why the price on here is more than ten times that!?

5.0 out of 5 stars Must Have For Rotations November 1, 2011
Format:Spiral-bound|Verified Purchase
I don't know anyone who's in rotations and doesn't own this. It's not super detailed, but for quick reference while in a hospital, it's a life saver. Pages are color coded so you can flip to where you need to be quickly. Don't go into your rotation without it.

This is definitely worth the money. I have used it many many times, even if for just measuring lacerations, contusions, purpuric lesions, etc.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little book August 18, 2011
By Doc p30
Format:Spiral-bound|Verified Purchase
I am a medical student and this has been a nice pocket reference. It contains, reference lab data, hp, neuro exam info, acls protocol (which is outdated at this point), and a bonus feature it has an eye chart on the back along with a ruler. If your in the medical field or training to be in it, I'd recommend picking this up and throwing it into your white coat.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good reference
I'm sure you've all seen it on the wards. It was delivered on time and in good condition. Though you could probably look up the same info easily on your smartphone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential Information in Compact Format
It's still easier to go to this essential little reference than to, "fire up," and fish around in a smartphone or iPad for quick answers and information.

3.0 out of 5 stars Seems reasonable
I just find I never use it. It has a lot of good information, but I don't have time to look at it. Maybe used it a month when I was a med student.
