5.0 out of 5 stars Plenty of examples and calculations suitable for college-level students.
College-level and advanced electromagnetism courses and electrical engineers alike will find Maxwell's Equations and the Principles of Electromagnetism an excellent introduction to Maxwell's equations and electromagnetic waves. It provides a survey of vector field theory and covers everything from retarded fields to antenna theory and Faraday rotation, pairing discussions...

3.0 out of 5 stars Another college text book- needing a professor to explain
I bought this book to revisit- the topics after a 10 year break- I don't like technical books that use "clearly"- in the middle of a proof to avoid what should be a few lines of extra text.
I made it to page 58 - and noted along the way- over 12 instances- of "it clearly can be show"- "it is easily demonstrated" and "it is clear"- at very critical parts of proofs...

This review is from: Maxwell's Equations and the Principles of Electromagnetism (Physics) (Physics (Infinity Science Press)) (Hardcover)
I bought this book to revisit- the topics after a 10 year break- I don't like technical books that use "clearly"- in the middle of a proof to avoid what should be a few lines of extra text.
I made it to page 58 - and noted along the way- over 12 instances- of "it clearly can be show"- "it is easily demonstrated" and "it is clear"- at very critical parts of proofs and examples-so I had to resort to other sources- to "clarify"-the math.
I gave up on the book- after page 58 where the tex- said "we know from Gauass' theorem- etc"-for critical derivation- However Gaauss' theorem not covered until much later in the book.
I found Schaum's outlines- more instructive- and useful for a recap.
