5.0 out of 5 stars Works for me!
I purchased these lights because my wife needs a night light especially when she occasionally gets up in the middle of the night. Since I like it dark in the bedroom, these are perfect. They are not too bright to keep me awake yet provide enough light to get around the room without walking into things. Also, since I shower without the lights on, I can still see what I...

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok Nightlight
We purchased a total of 56 Maxxima nightlights for ourselves and family. We ordered 2 of each of the models I will cover below to test them and see which ones we liked. Then we ordered 46 more of the nightlights our families all preferred.

We purchased a total of 56 Maxxima nightlights for ourselves and family. We ordered 2 of each of the models I will cover below to test them and see which ones we liked. Then we ordered 46 more of the nightlights our families all preferred.

This Model MLN-09 LED nightlight has a clear lens and is hard on the eyes at night. It lights the area pretty well. But we did not prefer this model of nightlight

Model MLN-10 LED nightlight is we would say the dimmest of the 5 models. It has a directional cover that you can spin around but we did not like this light. You can aim it down also. But through the vents in the top it has annoying beams of light that shine up.

Model MLN-11-02 we use in our stairway we have it shinning down on the steps. It works well for that purpose. Good if you don't want much light around the room or light hitting you in the face at night.

Model MLN-15CL-02 LED nightlight is a bright night light that lights up a room well. But this clear lens is also hard on the eyes at night. We didn't prefer this model.

Model MLN-15WL-02 LED Nightlight is GREAT! It has a white cover and is easier on the eyes at night. It also lights the area so you can see to navagate throught the dark very well. All of our families preffered this model we bought 48 of them (24 two packs) including the first 2 test models. We purchased these nightlights in June, July and August of 2008. We recieved 2 defective ones. Maxxima promply replaced them. One wouldn't light at all and one only worked on low setting. I am writing this review on june 11th 2009 so its been about a year and none of them have burnt out (including the other models).

All of these models save energy! And we all prefer the bluish white light they give off opposed to regular nightlights.

3.0 out of 5 stars Only 80% last more than one year, September 17, 2007

I have these all over my house. Once they have lasted about 6-9 months they seem to last forever. 10-20% fail in the first few months. My wife does not have good night vision and with roll shutters on the house outside light does not enter the house. She has no problem navigating at night, neither of us is disturbed when the other get up during the night. Better since the newer version does not require polarity and can be mounted without blocking the second outlet on a duplex outlet.

4.0 out of 5 stars I love these, but hated the excess packaging., March 9, 2008

We've had two of these in our home now for almost a month. One is plugged in above my vanity in the master bathroom at the back of the house and one is plugged in the foyer at the front of the house. This is all we need to see our way to the bathroom at night or the way to the office (front of the house) early in the morning.

I had a three-fold reason for purchasing these. 1) We're cheap and try not to turn on lights if we can possibly avoid it. These purport to cost only $.25/year in electricity. 2) We're getting up there in years and I was afraid that we'd stumble on something unexpected in our path. These shine so brightly that my husband closes the bathroom door partially so the light doesn't shine into the bedroom. 3) We want to help the environment.

I got everything I wanted for reasons 1 and 2, and the lights were delivered in perfect condition ... due to being packaged in hard plastic, boxed in styrofoam peanuts. 2 out of 3 isn't bad, though, and we should never have to buy anything like this again. Right? <-- I guess that will be determined through the years.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok for low light needs, November 3, 2007

These single LED Night lights do not put out as much light as a 4 watt incandescent bulb. If you just need to light a path to the bathroom it's fine, but if you actually want to be able to see what you're doing, get a multi-LED model.

Able to use bathroom at night without turning on the main light source. How energy saving is this? Can even bath, shower & blow dry my hair using this most excellent light source. I didn't try shaving yet!An excellent gift for friends anytime or for the holidays!

2.0 out of 5 stars Auto on/off sensor doesn't work, July 23, 2008

This review is from: Maxxima MLN-09 LED Night Light With Sensor (Misc.)
I bought two of these MLN-09 Night lights and neither one turns off during the daytime or when lights in the room are turned on. I've tried them all over the house and none of the lights in any of the rooms are bright enough to trigger the night light to turn off. The only way I found to trigger them to turn off is to shine a flash light directly into the sensor. So, if you don't mind that they run all day then they are OK. I was considering returning these two night lights, but I figure the return shipping cost would negate the value I get back from a refund.

Note: I also bought two MLN-11 2-LED bright night lights which are also from Maxxima. Those lights actually turn off during the day as I would expect. So, those I would recommened the MLN-11 instead.

This product is pretty good. The light goes easy on the eyes. Bright but not annoying. The only thing I found wrong that in order for the sensor to turn of the light you need to turn on a light that is BRIGHT.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bright little sucker, June 26, 2007

I bought several other of Maxxima's (MLN-10 and MLN-15), and this one is the brightest one of the crop. If you want an area lit at night, this is the brightest LED night light I own. I'm considering purchasing this one for several other rooms to keep them lit; while using very little power!

The sensor is not as sensitive as I would like. The area must be well lit during the day (at least two windows with blinds open in the near vicinity) in order to turn it off.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great nightlight alternative. Never replace a bulb. Dirt cheap to operate., March 29, 2007
This review is from: Maxxima MLN-09 LED Night Light With Sensor (Misc.)
Several companies sell this exact same light, included one sold at Home Depot. It's a single LED light that uses 0.3 watts. You will never need to replace the bulb. Light is slightly blue in color. It does not put off as much light as a 4-7 watt standard nightlight bulb. It seems brighter when viewed from above, such as from a floor outlet.
