4.0 out of 5 stars energy saving bright light
I liked the energy saving LEDs and motion sensor. The only drawbacks are the size - it is a large light - covers the entire 2 socket outlet no matter if you plug it in the top or bottom socket. 1.0 out of 5 stars Maxxima MLS-10 LED sensor light
Bought 3 of these units a year ago - don't waste your money on these units. The LED lamps do not last. The first unit's two lamps went out after 3 months, the 2nd unit has one lamp out, and the 3rd unit's lamps are going dim. We purchased these to save energy and get the benefit of the long life hours of the LED lamp technology. Forget the long life of the LED lamps,...

4.0 out of 5 stars energy saving bright light, August 29, 2006
This review is from: Maxxima MLS-10 2 LED AC/DC Occupancy Sensor Light (Misc.)
I liked the energy saving LEDs and motion sensor. The only drawbacks are the size - it is a large light - covers the entire 2 socket outlet no matter if you plug it in the top or bottom socket. Also if you look at it straight on the light is very blinding since it uses a mirror to strengthen the LED lights. Another inconvenient thing is that the photocell to sense daylight to turn off the motion sensor light when it is bright outside is a bit weak - even when I can see clearly, it turns on - but the photocell does work when I turn on full overhead lights. There is a dusk to dawn mode but I would prefer for it to not turn on during the day when using the motion sensing option. Other than that, I love the energy savings.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great product, July 3, 2006

Great product for places with no outlets. The range is average, so if you are going to use it to light a stairway ( like I did ), then you will need to get two. One for the top of the stairs and one for the bottom.

4.0 out of 5 stars Energy Saving Nightlight, October 20, 2007

This Maxxima 2-LED nightlight is a good choice for those who wish to save energy over the traditional incandescent light-bulb nightlight. Of course the light is a bright white color instead of a warm yellow that you can get from an incandescent bulb. But it stays cool and uses a lot less energy.

This nightlight is excellent at sensing motion and coming on only when needed, should you choose this setting. The glass front is frosted to help keep the LEDs from being piercingly bright. If you must plug your nightlight into an outlet, I would recommend this nightlight.

If you would like something a bit more compact, consider Maxxima's 3-LED nightlight, which is smaller and even brighter (but requires batteries as it cannot be plugged in.)

My chief two complaints about this 2 LED nightlight #1 - it is large and covers both outlets on a standard AC/DC wall outlet. #2 - this nightlight can also operate on batteries, but NOT rechargeable batteries.

The sensor part of the unit works well but that part is worthless without the lamps working.

Unit is large (covers 2 outlets) and the range is not that great (not very bright). Else it works well.

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible Product and Customer Service, July 13, 2008
This review is from: Maxxima MLS-10 2 LED AC/DC Occupancy Sensor Light (Misc.)
We ordered three of these sensor lights to help light a stairway at nighttime. When we received our package, one of the lights did not work at all. Within a month, the second one also quit working. When we called to ask if they would replace them, we were informed that sure they'd replace them, but we would have to pay all shipping fees. They sold us duds but we were still responsible for shipping??? Within 3 months of receipt, the third light quit working as well.

I got 2 of these and they are great. I use them as a night light, emergency light and a tent light when I'm camping. It works great keeping critters away from you camp. I put one in the tent as a light and put the other outside aimed at my cooler and food. If you have ever been raided by a bear/racoon/etc. you can appreciate this. It would be a great product at twice the price. Good company. I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars First rate product, December 3, 2007

First rate product. I've used mine for over a year on both AC and battery. One took a direct hit from a mismounted fire extinguisher, shattering the plastic less. However, the body keeps soldiering on.

This model has both a light sensor and a motion detector. Both need to be triggered for it to work. Nicely, therefore, when you pass it during the day time, it does not go on. Note also that it operates on both AC and battery (3-AA cells) , which gives you a lot of flexility in placement.

Complaints that it covers both outlets are correct. However, if you buy a 1' extension cord, used as an extension for power adapters (sold, for example, at cyberguys and maybe here), you can stand the light on the floor and use the other outlet.

It works perfectly for my purposes. I wanted a light that would illuminate the bathroom at 3AM but not wake me up in the process. This does the job!

I bought this sensor light because of the ac/dc. I am very happy with this light. It gives just enough light to see where you are going. It is great for those people who get up in the middle of the night and you don't want to turn on a regular light. My husband would flip the regular light on from the bathroom which always woke me up. I am not a happy camper if you wake me from sleeping. Now I don't wake up from this light. I have tried several other types of sensor lights and they didn't have enough light and they turned off and didn't come back on as easily. I did try the night lights and that bothered me because it stayed on all the time. My only complaint is that it does cover both electrical plugs.
