Picked it up in Mumbai airport. After sadly finishing it, I heartily agree with the major Indian media's
high praise on the jacket. Its a very clever and funny look at the India of the 80's and 90's.
Previously I was not a fan of Bollywood, which is not so popular here in mainstream Europe, but thanks to Arnab Ray's
detailed film knowledge I can now see it in a whole new light. Apart from the various clever bits there are tons of
laughs and funny scenarios, many based on the authors own experiences.
Check out his super famous greatbong blog for more indications on the authors credentials.
Not to be missed.

Arnab Ray, of Greatbong fame, comes up with a classical satirical book (collection of short stories/anecdotes) of growing up in India, emphasis on Kolkata, in the 80's and the 90's. The style is free flowing, yet clinical, with liberal amount of caustic wit and 'colourful' words thrown in.

May I Hebb Your Attention Pliss is the right book to read if you appreciate humor and satire. It's a funny documentary of things that any individual growing up in an Indian society during the 80s and the 90s would come across. It talks of the simple things you saw around you, terrorism, NRIs, frustrated engineers (and men in general), politics, weddings, the television industry, Bollywood, and more. It's a collection of essays you will highly enjoy reading, knowing that impressionable minds could do with some great perspective on societal issues. Sadly, the only issues that were missing were perhaps Rakhi ka Swayamvar and Himesh Reshammiya '. The book was totally worth my time, money, and expectations.
