Since moving to Austin, Texas in 1982, vocalist Pamela Hart has won over the city's music fans - so much so that the city proclaimed June 23, 1994 Pamela Hart Day. Hart performed and produced the city's Women in Jazz Concert Series from 1994 through 1998, and she has opened for Kirk Whalum, David Murray, and David "Fathead" Newman. Her CD, May I Come In? (on Austin-based HartBeat Productions), finds her performing contemporary and traditional jazz, as well as soul and R&B.

I have been listening to Ms. Hart for years, and this CD is the "Bomb"! Some of the tunes should be considered for a movie sound track. Every time I hear Ever Blue, I visualize a love story involving intrigue, passion, and suspense. The entire collage and artistry of May I Come In is truly a labor of love. I highly recommend this CD and look forward to the next. This is a worthwhile investment.

Wow! We just arrived in Austin and happened to catch a jam session at the Elephant Room. Pamela Hart happened to be in attendance and sang a couple of songs. Her renditions of those old favorites was so incredible we ran out and bought the CD. It doesn't disappoint! Pamela's rendition of 'What are you doing with the rest of your life' will blow you away. The clarity of the tone, the beauty of the sound, the capture of the mood is all just perfect. We're hoping Pamela records a new CD soon!

I purchased this CD for "May I Come In", but when I heard "Ever Blue", I was absolutely floored. She does the song beautifully, but the lyrics to this song were "Off the Chain". What a beautiful song! I'm searching feverishly for the song writer of this song. Pamela seems to nourish every word...beautiful! She does a nice job with "What are you doing the rest of your life". This is music that should be in every 'jazz lovers' library.
