5.0 out of 5 stars A Must for Hospice Workers!
For oncology workers, professional or otherwise, and for all hospice workers, including volunteers, this little book is exceedingly valuable. The book is a collection of anecdotal stories of the dying process of a variety of individuals. The stories are written with great sensitivity, wisdom, and gentle humor. 3.0 out of 5 stars As comforting as a cup of tea on a rainy day
This book was an easy and comforting read. I can highly recommend it if you are caring for someone who is terminally ill. It gives a very gracious and encouraging picture of the final months and days. The analogy of "May I walk you home" will stay with you long after you put the book down. It's also a great read for those who support the caregivers who support the ill.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must for Hospice Workers!, April 21, 1999
This review is from: May I Walk You Home?: Courage and Comfort for Caregivers of the Very Ill (Paperback)
For oncology workers, professional or otherwise, and for all hospice workers, including volunteers, this little book is exceedingly valuable. The book is a collection of anecdotal stories of the dying process of a variety of individuals. The stories are written with great sensitivity, wisdom, and gentle humor. At the close of each chapter is an inspiring prayer, relevant to the situation just described. The authors have written a very personal account of their experiences with the dying. This book < I believe, will lead the reader into a different way of looking at death-a way both practical and realistic, as well as highly spiritual.

This book has provided so much comfort for myself and the people that I have purchased copies for. With so many of us losing ones we love, it is so comforting to hear such heartwarming and tearful stories from a caregiver. I applaud the book and highly recommend it to anyone grieving. Thank you so much for a wonderful book. I can't say enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars How to help the dying exit with dignity, June 20, 1999
By
This review is from: May I Walk You Home?: Courage and Comfort for Caregivers of the Very Ill (Paperback)
This book is filled with examples of people who learned to die with dignity through the help of a compassionate Hospice caregiver. It's a look at what transpires as life ebbs away, and it offers encouragement to caregivers via prayers, meditations and "one step" ideas to help get through the day.

4.0 out of 5 stars Must read for our Pastoral Calling team., February 6, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: May I Walk You Home?: Courage and Comfort for Caregivers of the Very Ill (Paperback)
Outstanding. I was blessed to have been trained by Joyce Hutchinson as a Hospice volunteer. Her stories bring to life her straight forward approach to her ministry. Open, loving, touching, affirming and grace giving.

Joyce Rupp's reflection questions, prayers and thoughts for the day give the framework for training our Pastoral Care team. A must resouce for all congregations who belive in shared leadership and pastoral care.

5.0 out of 5 stars More than just stories, March 16, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: May I Walk You Home?: Courage and Comfort for Caregivers of the Very Ill (Paperback)
This book offers much more than just stories--they capture the lessons Joyce has learned over the years in caring for the dying. Each story punctuates a point about the special needs of the dying and how a caregiver can respond---whether it be with words, a touch, a special deed or gifts. Through Joyce's example, caregivers will be inspired by the dignity, respect, concern, and patience that is shown by Joyce for each of her patients.

5.0 out of 5 stars Joyce captured my husband's story with sensitivity., December 21, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: May I Walk You Home?: Courage and Comfort for Caregivers of the Very Ill (Paperback)
My husband and I are one of the chapters in this inspirational book. I met Joyce at the Hospice care facility and we have become great friends as she walked with me through my husband's death and my widowhood. Her sincere understanding of the depth of our love and the devestation of our loss has been truly a gift that came from our sorrow. I highly recommend this book to anyone caring for someone facing death or to those who believe that life does go on.
