My husband loves Catan, so I bought this as a stocking stuffer.

Very quickly, I realized that they were simply suggesting ways to keep track of progress.

I purchased this item from a well-known on-line bookseller, so I can not comment on Amazon's shipping or delivery. I can comment on the game itself, though.
I am a big fan of the whole Catan series. I have many of the sets and expansions and have been playing since college well over a decade ago. When I saw this version, I was excited by the promise of portability and simplicity. After receiving it, my girlfriend and I played many times in the few weeks we have owned it. It has met all of my expectations and more.
The game is extremely portable and very simple and quick to play. The rules are slightly strange with an initial read, but after playing once, it became clear what they were trying to say. I think it might be a translation issue?
Here is what I mean: The rules say that you mark your little score sheets each turn with your results. They say that this includes coloring in or circling elements of the score sheet. I was very confused by what they meant, so just started playing. Very quickly, I realized that they were simply suggesting ways to keep track of progress. The score sheets have a very visual style of keeping track of points, so by coloring in or circling a player can easily see their own advancement on the "playing board." Likely, they did this to keep a feeling for the original hex tile-games. By coloring/circling elements on the "board" the player can see their progress in a different way. Very helpful for players with visual learning styles, by the way.
In the end, the game appeals to lovers of dice games as well as lovers of Catan. if you are either one of those, give it a shot!

Pros: -Super portable
-Good construction
-Visually appealing
Cons: -Rules a little odd to start
-No baby pencils included (or baby pens)

We have played Catan the board game several times and really enjoyed it. This is a great game. There is no set up time and the game has two options a quick mode or slower mode. The score sheets are colored with game one on one side and game two on the other, the only concern is it only comes with 50 sheets.

If you do not have time to play a full game of Catan, this dice game is a good substitute. It has two different versions of Catan to play. Features all of the same main resources as the board game. It is most fun when played with more then one person, even though it can be played by individuals. You have many choices you can use when playing strategy for this game. You can decide to build settlements, or cities. The more of each type you build, the more points you get. The reason I am only giving it 4 stars is because some of the resources are hard to see on the dice, and the pad of paper does not fit in the dice cup for storage. I would have bought it without the dice cup if I had to buy it again. It is not worth the extra money.

My wife loves Yatzee so I needed to find something that keeps me somewhat entertained. This did the trick. Plays like Yatzee but still has a bit of strategy and a Catan theme - So all around I am pretty pleased. Othere than that it is pretty simple and if you want to play a real board game - I suggest playing the real thing.

It's not the full version, but if you simply can't play the full version, this will do. We bought this to take on airplane trips with my kids. They are 6 & 9 and both love it. I laminated several of the score sheets and use a water erase pen to mark it off. Not necessary, but somehow this made me feel better about the disposable sheets.

We specifically got the deluxe version because there are two ways to play the game and it has the dice cup. The dice cup will not fit all of the parts (especially my laminated sheets and special pen.) It does make playing in the car or plane easier though. You can shake the dice and leave the dice in the lid, upside down, and carefully pry the lid off. It took some practice for the kids, but it worked well once they did. One lost die convinced them to learn the technique.

One last thing I like about this version is you can play by yourself. We frequently either have someone lose at another game and have nothing to do or a lone bored child. We always have this available for them to play by themselves.

Fun Game, worth getting the deluxe version for a place to store the dice. It is basically yatze with a catan spin.

Catan, anyone? Please..? Okay, I'll readily admit that my kids got me hooked on Settlers of Catan and various expansions. The problem is that my kids are grown and live elsewhere so I rarely get to have a Catan fix. When I read that this Catan Dice Game was for 1-5 players, I bought it--Catan for one! It's as clever and yet less complex than the full board game, but not really a game of solitaire. It's possible and somewhat satisfying. Kind of like eating carob when you're craving chocolate. But it works and I think the Catan empire is brilliant and therefore this dice game version is worth the purchase. It would be fun to play at the local brew-pub with a couple of other people. Does anyone want to meet me there?
