A simple yet essential book,
By Sten "Sten" (France) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Maya Calendar: Voice of the Galaxy (Paperback)
I have read many books and I have noticed, only the simple and sincere books remain after sometime. This one is great, it is small, simple, very honest with great meditations for everyday. It is easy to follow the Mayan Calendar and to have a different meditation each day. Very powerful. You have the glyph for each daykeeper. You connect with a galactic aspect. You can have your birthday sign very easily. The authors do not choose for the reader, they give to us the choice between the 2 calendars : the newage one and the traditional one. They explain the differences between them in few lines and so you can choose which one you feel connected with. This book is essential for anyone, even if you don't know anything about the Mayan Calendar, you have here a guide to know more about yourself, about time and a powerful tool to learn by yourself.

wonderful but limited introduction,
By Michael Flynn (Framingham, MA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Maya Calendar: Voice of the Galaxy (Paperback)
this book is a useful introduction to the the daykeepers (twenty glyph rotation). it offers easily accesible and digestible information and led me quickly to begin to know the different feelings of the 20 day cycle. unfortunately there is no real work with the 13 tone cycle that rotates with the 20 glyph cycle to make up the tolkin i would put forth that if you are looking for an intro to the daily glyphs then this book is great, but if it is the only book on the mayan calendar you get then you will be missing an essetial part of how the day-keepers keep a cyclical time. the interaction between the 20 glyph and 13 tone cycles makes the tolkin cycle (20x13=260) much more profound than the sum of its parts. |
