This review is from: Maya Madness : The Mysterious Numbers Card Game (Toy)
This is a great educational game: it is fun and in no time kids learn the concept of negative numbers. It is rated for kids 10 and up, but I've played with my son who is 5 and he has no problem playing this game, though he did not want to sit through my explanation of what a negative number was (which didn't affect his game playing). The game comes with a ruler/measuring strip with which kids can do their calculation visually. The strip is not as good as I would like--I wish they put some sort of slider on to help kids keep track of the current sum, but it works nonetheless. The key is for an adult to play a few rounds with the kids and teach them how the game works. We love it in our family. Like many of the Gamewright games, it has a very specific range in educational value. If your kid has trouble grasping the concept of negative numbers or adding or subtracting with negative numbers, this game just may solve the problem.
