Book Description

This is a book of writings by my uncle, Dr. Subhash Mehrotra, who passed away in February 2008. The writings defy categorization into any particular theme. Dr. Mehrotra touches upon a wide range of subjects, in an existentialist / universalist vein - I can see the work perhaps fitting with a series along the lines of studies in the South Asian immigrant and spiritual experience in the western world. Some aspects of the writings could come under "memoirs", but they are really observations, reflections, thoughts - straight from the heart - rooted in experience and background and arising from a unique blend of intellect, emotion and spirituality that so characterized my uncle. The result often was generalized conclusions, not always politically correct. I sincerely hope the writings are not offensive to anyone, and are taken in the right spirit - one in appreciation of the brutal honesty of individual opinion.

Dr. Mehrotra was a generous and compassionate soul. The first edition of the book (physical copy) was sold for a charitable cause that he would have been very proud of, given his love for children and education. All proceeds went to IIMPACT, an organization in India that has started and runs accredited primary schools for girls in rural parts of the country where they are lacking the most.
