Why don't you have this album yet?,
By
This review is from: Maya (MP3 Download)
1969 is Butch Walker (Marvelous 3 or read your Pink, Avril, and Bowling For Soup liner notes) Michael Guy Chislet (The Academy Is...) and Darren Dodd (Butch's band). If you like good music you need this for your collection. Period. It does sound more adult than what is out there today. And by adult I mean mature. No bubblegum on this disc. Butch is one of the best songwriters, his voice is awesome, the guitar work and drums are great. You will not regret this purchase.

An All-Around Great Rock Album,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Maya (MP3 Download)
1969 combines the music and song writing of Michael Guy Chislett from The Academy Is... with Butch Walker's amazing vocals and production talents. What comes forth from this union is an amazing rock album. If you are a fan of Butch Walker you will enjoy this album immensely. From the driving anthem of Wreck Me to the slow ballad of Save A Place this album is a wonderful listen and sonic experience from start to end. There is even a fun cover of Laid from James to finish off the album. Well worth checking out.

1969 - Maya Review,
By
This review is from: Maya (MP3 Download)
If you're even reading these reviews that means you're part of a fiercely loyal cult of fans who obsess and snort up everything Butch Walker. It's been said a million times that Walker is one of the most talented artists and producers anywhere. You can just google his name for more info. His latest record is with a band called 1969 which includes some of his bandmates from his touring band, "The Let's Go Out Tonites." If you're expecting a sunny, 70's type feel to the music then you'll be quite surprised. "Maya" is an album that stands up as music for the present time but while listening you can tell that this is the type of rock that will hold up years to come. Other reviewers have compared this CD to U2, and the Killers. You Butch fans will enjoy this album although it's not as "Butchy" as you may want it to be. As it compares to the last 3 Butch solo efforts, it's a very different sound. Either way, Butch is in top form and you'll still hear his stroke of genius all over this music. It's amazing to realize that Marvelous 3 was considered alternative rock and now many years later 1969 is considered the same and their sounds aren't similar at all. Any way you slice it, this is another must have for Butch fans. For me the standout tracks are "Wreck Me," "Wednesday," "Ready to Explode," and their excellent cover of James' "Laid."
