This 2011 Edition of the Long Count wall Calendar contains 13 stunning 12x12 photos taken from unique vantage points. However it is very different from other Mayan Calendars you may have seen. It does not reflect holidays of any country. But all numbering is in Arabic numerals and all wording is in English. The layout facilitates use in the USA,CAN,MEXICO,UK, AUS & NZ. Each day is identified in five ways: Gregorian date,constant day numbering 1-13 to reflect Mayan Trecenas (13 day weeks), day numbering from 0-thru 19 to reflect the 20 Tzolkin days of the month (Uinal), a prominent glyph corresponding to each of the twenty "Day-Signs,(but those Day-Signs are not named here) and a name for each of the eighteen twenty- day months (uinals) pronounced as "winals". This calendar is obviously designed for users whom are familiar with the Tzolkin Sacred Calendar. Sundays have an additional notation for the Mayan Long Count Calendar of 5,126 years. It is in heavy type and is not a "count-down" but rather is a "count-up" five place numbering system, counting up towards the end of the Mayan Calendar (the end of the 13 Baktuns of this 5126 year cycle notated as "13.0.0.0.0.") occuring on Dec.21,2012. For Americans the most informative and easy to use Mayan calendar is the "2011 Mayan Calendar by Dr.Edwin Barnhart, which describes all the Mayan terminology. For everyone i suggest obtaining the full page graph of the 260 day Tzolkin Calendar which can be found on page 14 of the book "Beyond 2012" by Geoff Stray. The Tzolkin Calendar is not actually a calendar but is a way of living and is therefore not an astronomical calendar but is an Astrological Calendar which continues to amaze scholars. Best.
