The Best Board Book Ever!,
By Heidi Cole (East Lansing, Michigan) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Maybe My Baby (Harper Growing Tree) (Board book)
No one is a better critic of a children's book, than a child himself. And my son rates "Maybe My Baby" on the top of his all time favorites. From age 1 to almost 3 (even after he had already outgrown the books maturity), we read this book together time and time again. Well, really, my son read it to me! He loved it so much that he memorized it word for word. What more can I say...the book is charming, engaging, and underneath it all there is a message of unconditional love from a parent to a child. It is definitely an important first book and I would recommend it to all.

What a wonderful book!,

I've been reading a lot to my 9 month old, but nothing has captured his attention like Maybe, My Baby. Not only does he coo and giggle while I read to him, but he keeps himself quite occupied looking at the photographs without me. What more could a mother ask for!

My daughter loved this even at 7 months!,

This review is from: Maybe My Baby (Harper Growing Tree) (Board book)
I bought this book when my daughter was 7 months old and she loved it from the start. She is now almost 10 months. The pictures are BIG, and one baby to a page, so it's easy for her to pay attention. And I really think she has a crush on one of them (the cement mixer!). She always laughs when she sees him. I took it with me to the photographer and it's the only thing that got her to smile for them camera. Young babies are drawn to other babies and faces and this book is perfect for them!

Maybe my baby,

Beautiful, candid photographs of a multi ethnic baby troop! My daughter would stare at the pictures when she was only a few weeks old and smile. The story that accompanies the photos is sweet and inspiring - good for adults and children of all ages.-board book style for chubby fingers to turn easily -good sized pictures for babies to focus on

We first received this as a "hand-me-down" book from a friend. Then...disaster struck when we lost it while visiting my step-mom this summer! Luckily, Amazon carries it! My little boy has loved this book ever since he was about 5 months old. Yes, the photos do seem slightly out of focus. Why? Who knows! However, the babies' expression are exceptionally genuine and he loves to look at them over and over. It is much more engaging then some of the board books we have with illustrations of babies. For whatever reason, my little boy gravitates towards this book quite often when he is getting tired, so it's a great bedtime read.

A waste of money,

I was really disappointed with this book. The pictures, especially the last one, seem out of focus, the rhyme is rather silly, and the pictures aren't very engaging. If you are looking for a book with baby pictures in it I would suggest Happy Baby Colors by Priddy or What Color? by Anthea Sieveking.

I bought this book for my son when he was only a couple of weeks old. I read it to him for the first time when he was about four weeks old. He loved looking at the pictures and even smiled back at the babies. He is now almost five months and he loves it when we read this book.

Reads well, pictures could have more,

This book is great - the only thing I would change is the pictures. There's not much to talk about except to say, "Baby!" It would be nice if the babies were at least holding a couple items, or wearing colorful clothes you could talk about. Once your baby starts learning to talk, he/she may not find enough here to keep interested.
