I don't know what it is, but my almost three year old son instantly loved this book. And, when we visited friends who have a two year old boy, he seemed to have the same reaction.

The little cat was looking for his favorite book to read before he goes to bed. Where is it? Maybe a bear ate it. Or maybe an elephant stumped on it.
"Maybe a Bear Ate It" has very simple texts, but it is fun to read. My three year old daughter loved this book since she was 2 and half. She can recite this book by heart. It is a good book for your little ones who love to read.

Our children and us loved this book. The pictures were great for developing observation skills. Then the words were enough that the children have basically memorized what is to happen word per word! (with picture help of course!) My children are 4 & 3. We first took notice of this book in the doctors office and just had to buy it. Worth the investment.

My 3 yr old son memorized this in just a few days after getting it. It's his absolute favorite book we've ever read.

My just turned 3 yr old grandson, found this book hysterically funny. He loved "reading" the pictures, and memorized the text in only a couple of readings. It's hard to find good picture books for the very young, and this one is perfect!

I picked this one out from the library. My 6 year old read this story to my 3 year old at bed time, and it created one of those magical moments I will always remember as a mom. My littlest was in absolute stitches over the story and pictures (being tired may have added to the laughter, but he obviously connected to the expressions of the characters in the illustrations.) The text was simple enough for my first grader to confidently read, and he was delighted to have such a mirthful response to his reading. The simple text and story is made surprisingly rich by the illustrations. It would be a fun one to read at library story time for young kids.
