3.0 out of 5 stars A nice surprise...
I picked this CD up at a used CD store...I bought it because I had the disturbing behavior sndtrck, and I loved "Ever She Flows". I enjoy this CD, especially the tune "How She Died"...but I have to say, it isn't exactly groundbreaking or anything...it's basically like all the alternative fare out there. If you like that, cool...if not, pick up...

1. 4/5 Friend Of Mine: Nice guitar and prechorus.
2. 3/5 How She Died: Nice verse rhytm.
3. 5/5 Stupid Thing To Say: Beatles influence. Catchy chorus.
4. 4/5 Kareen: Good prechorus and tuning.
5. 4/5 Red: I think only the chorus is good.
6. 4/5 Fade: Flowing pop-rock song, last verse is great.
7. 3/5 Ever She Flows: Instrumental is nice kind of sombre.
8. 2/5 Forever Knowing: Okay, nice guitar after chorus.
9. 3/5 Mercury Smile: Darker heavy-ish song, last verse is catchy.
10. 5/5 Christ Is On The Lawn: Nice instrumental. Sounds like Shakira's "Underneath Your Clothes".
11. 5/5 Scatterbrain: Catchy horns and trumpets especially during the bridge.
12. 5/5 Takes Me Down: Underrated and one of my faves, the duet chorus is catchy.
13. 5/5 Left Feeling Odd: Mellow and harmonious. Nice guitar bridge.

Ok so the songs ratings don't match up but it still deserves 5 stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ever She Flows..., August 14, 2003

Ever since I heard "Friend of Mine" on the radio back in '97, I've been a fan of Treble Charger. The album boasts some wonderfully creative songs in addition to some pretty decent songs. Basically, the album gets a 4 instead of a 3 because of the song "Red" due to the fact that it's such a great song, probably one of the best alternative rock ballads of its era. Overall, the album is interesting and is definitely worth purchasing. If you're a fan of the Modern Rock sound, this is a pretty good album from a pretty good Canadian band.

5.0 out of 5 stars AN INCREDIBLE CD!!!!!!!!!, August 1, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Maybe It's Me (Audio CD)
Maybe It's Me is fantastic, and treble charger's talent really shines through on this CD. Maybe It's Me is vastly improved from self=title; the songs are much more colorful, easier to get into, much more dynamic, and all around guitar pop masterpieces. "Friend of mine" kicks it off, leading into one of my favorites "how she died." All of the songs are brilliant and catchy, and although "stupid thing to say" is my least favorite, I often find myself humming it or singing it. Among the other awesome songs are "kareen," "fade," one of my other favorites "ever she flows," "scatterbrain," and "mercury smile." A sensation in its native Canada, and rightfully so, treble charger deserves to be listened to and will (or at least should) be worshipped by all who appreciate great rock/pop.

4.0 out of 5 stars What do you mean "maybe"? It is you !, April 19, 2003

I can't believe the USA never payed much attention to Treble Charger ! They have the potentiel to be as big as Blink 182 and are much, much, much (...) better than the horrible Simple Plan. Oh, if you haven't guessed, they do pop-punk-rock just like those 2 other bands. Maybe It's Me is the record that introduced me to Treble Charger. It's a nice introduction to the band, but it can't be compared to Wide Awake Bored (their best release). If you're a fan, you should also check out their fourth release, Detox (I think it's fourth, I'm not sure if there are 1 or 2 albums before Maybe It's Me).

Anyway, the record starts well enough with Friend of Mine, a very catchy song and also one of the singles. How She Died and Stupid Thing to Say are right up there with the first song. Red and Ever She Flows are great ballads that show the talent of these guys. Without taking anything away from the other songs, I think the best one is Christ Is On The Lawn. It's also a ballad but it really shows how beautiful Greig's voice is (or Bill's voice, see below for explanation). Not every songs are up to those I mentionned, but they're still good and shouldn't stop you from checking out this album.

By the way, there's a chance you won't notice but Treble Charger has 2 singers. One sings the more punk songs, the other sings on the ballads. I'm not sure who is who so that's why I can't say who sings on Christ Is On The Lawn. I only noticed this fact when I say them live (they are incredible live). It's not that their voices are the same, it's just that they have the same tone so it's possible to think they are from the same person. Well, that's what I tell myself every night before going to sleep...

Maybe It's Me is a good album to own, but it shouldn't be alone. Wide Awake Bored is a great fallower, better in my mind.

5.0 out of 5 stars another incredibly under-rated canadien rock group, February 28, 2000

I had the priveledge of watching a treble charger show back in '97 when they opened for the Verve Pipe in saginaw, Michigan. Treble Charger was certainly the more enjoyable band. Their albums are inspiring, the lyrics are insightfull, and in today's market of junk music it's good to hear another strong rock and roll band. Keep up the good work, I'm sure the radio will start playing good music again soon.

I enjoy this CD, especially the tune "How She Died"...but I have to say, it isn't exactly groundbreaking or anything...it's basically like all the alternative fare out there. If you like that, cool...if not, pick up something from some awe-inspiringly original bands, like Built to Spill or PULP, two of my favs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing CD from an underappreciated band, April 12, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Maybe It's Me (Audio CD)
RED is such a stunning track. The CD is worth buying for that song alone. That said, the rest of the CD is pretty good, but pales in comparison with the haunting, epic feeling of Red. Very few other songs give me the same feeling notably - "the unforgettable fire" (U2), "black star" (radiohead), "behold! the night mare" (pumpkins) and a few other more obscure songs.
