Awesome DVD,
By
This review is from: Maybe Memories (CD/DVD) (Audio CD)
I bought it the day it came out, because I've been a fan of these guys for a long time! The best part is, besides the awesome DVD and live footage, that there's a secret video in the monkey's brain! If you go to the portion of the DVD with the band members' names, then go to Jeph and click the left button, you can see secret footage!
It's hilarious! www.theusednation.com

Maybe Memories: A Dual CD/DVD release,
By
This review is from: Maybe Memories (CD/DVD) (Audio CD)
This is a dual CD/DVD casing of 'The Used' a group of young men from Utah that made it big time. This is actually a great double pack with the CD portion consisting of audio tracks of 4 live performances of 'Maybe Memories', 'Say Days Ago, 'On My Own' and 'A Box Full of Sharp Onjects'. Then you have 3 Home demo versions of 'Just A Little', 'Bulimic', 'Zero Mechanism'. There are all together 10 tracks on the audio CD.
But the highlight is the DVD portion of this dual casing which icludes a 30 min live concert perfomance at the Henry Fonda Music Theatre and 3 Unreleased music tracks which includes 'It Could Have Been A Good Excuse', 'Sometimes I just Go For It' and 'Alone This Holiday'. The DVD also includes full bios on each band member and their drive and life story which is excellent to watch as we learn more about the band as a whole and its complex individuals that make up 'The Used'. This release is a must for any fan of 'The Used'.

Many people have given me mixed reviews of this cd/dvd and I decided it is time to give my own. What the cd part lacks the dvd half gracefully makes up for. Don't get me wrong, the cd is great. I was actually hoping for some more live songs, being a witness to the fact that live is the only way to really catch the full intensity of The Used. The demos are interesting and the song for the KROQ Christmas isn't bad. But this should really be called a dvd with a bonus cd. The dvd, except for more live music, is a dream for a fan of The Used. The diary isn't some 10 minute skit talking about how they got big overnight. It's a main feature which touches on all the aspects of the life of The Used, and shows their quick rise to stardom. The videos and live stuff is awesome. This is definitely not for someone who wants to get their first taste of The Used, they should definitely go for the s/t album. But this should be a joy for any fan, and maybe a whole live dvd is in order.

Live version of S/T,

I am not the biggest fan of this band. I just think of this cd as just a live version of their self titled. When I bought it, I thought that it was a new cd from them, I didn't expect to get a live cd. O well. The DVD is pretty good. Shows a few of their videos and also live. If you are a fan of The Used and haven't got this cd yet, What the Hell are you waiting for?!!!, you'll love this. But since I am not the biggest fan, I didn't really enjoy it.

Great to have for Used fans.,
This review is from: Maybe Memories (CD/DVD) (Audio CD)
This is a must-have for big fans of The Used. The footage is extremely entertaining (especially the "secret" video). It has unreleased tracks that are great. Bert's piano track, 'Sometimes I Just Go For It', is gorgeous. The live songs are amazing as well. Though, there is no comparision with actually being at their concerts, it's really nice to have still. It's just a great addition to add to your Used collection.

This is something that hardcore fans of The Used will love. I greatly recommend it, yet I do recommend that you buy their first cd before this one. The DVD is awesome because you not only get to see them in concert, but you also get to see the music videos!

Wow The Used can't seem to do no wrong these days. On the heels of their highly sucessfull self-titled album comes their new cd/dvd entitled "Maybe Memories," which I have to say is pretty impressive. Not only does it deliver on the audio side with the new song "just a little," but the dvd is great too. It reminds me of when I went to see them for the first time last year and it was on point. Good video quality, cameras were pretty awesome, but when it comes down to it, who gives a flying hootnanny about the cameras and stuff! It was, overall a very entertaining documentary.

It's their time to shine.,

The Used had an incredible year in 2003. Their 2002 self-titled album yielded three powerhouse hit singles and propelled the band very quickly into the mainstream. Their blend of emotional punk-rock and melodic hard-rock got them (and other like-minded bands) tagged as "screamo" and helped open the doors for similar, but more eclectic bands such as Thrice and Brand New. So, it would make sense for the band to release a little something to keep everyone happy until their second studio album sees the light of day. "Maybe Memories," a DVD/CD set featuring live songs, music videos, demos and everything in between does a great job of filling in the gap. The DVD, I have to say is far superior to the CD. In it, we get a documentary on the band, how they made their album, how they made their videos, a four song performance (also on the CD) and all four of their music videos ("Box Full of Sharp Objects," "Taste Of Ink," "Buried Myself Alive," and "Blue & Yellow). The CD is 10 tracks long, and along with the killer live performances (featuring a particularly moving version of "On My Own") we are treated to the bands home-made demos and some left-over tracks from their debut. "Alone This Holiday" is basically their Christmas song, which featured guest vocals by frontman Bert's then-girlfriend Kelly Osbourne (the vocals are deleted here, however, thankfully). The original version of "Bullimic" and the instrumental "Sometimes I Just Go For It" serve as highlights. Overall, it's a great package, you definitely get more than you pay for. If you are a fan of The Used, you shouldn't be without this. If you are new to the band, however, I direct you to their self-titled debut album first, as this release is strictly for those who are already initiated. Personally, I can't wait to see what they come up with on their second album.

This review is from: Maybe Memories (CD/DVD) (Audio CD)
Ok this is for hardcore fans of the Used only. The live songs are awesome. Couldn't ask for anything more. A couple of the unreleased songs aren't of the best quality but thats the point of this disk to hear where they started. The Christmas song is really cool though. Anyway the real reason to buy this is for the dvd. Its packed. Live concert, band bio, 4 videos and 2 making of the videos. Anyone who loves the used has to buy this, anyone just getting into them should buy their self-titled disk first. Then come and buy this one. And make sure to see them on warped tour 2003 cause they are amazing live. Ok im going to get down off their balls now. Even though they are the best new band to come out in a very very long time.. Definately what the music business needed a sweet kick in the [rear].
