This product was returned for poor quality. While I was cleaning it after installation, I discovered a sliver had come off the underside. It also did not fit properly on the toilet.

I purchased another wooden seat at a higher price and am very satisfied.

Looking for a decent, easy-to-install, good-looking wood toilet seat? This is it. It's cheaper than the solid wood models because I believe it is made of a composite-wood material with a wood grain veneer. So, it's a bit thinner and lighter than a solid wood seat, but it also won't split or crack. Overall, it looks really good, has metal hinges and mounting hardware (except for mounting nuts which are plastic), it's sturdy and it sits well. Good seat for the price!

We only had this set for about a month and the supports on the bottom of the seat broke off I have had the seats made of oak but this one is going back

Well - the toilet seat came quickly and looked nice when we got it. Installation was easy but the quality just is NOT there! The little plastic pieces on the bottom that keep the seat level don't want to stay in. The one on the left keeps falling off so you have to dig it out of the toilet and shove it back in. We tried gluing it back on and off it pops! We've already gone to Home Depot and replaced it with the basic white seat:(

The seat is too small for the bowl and slips off the rests along the rim during use. I ordered another brand that is a full inch and a half longer from front to back. The Mayfair was also poorly finished. I got slivers!

Everything I have ordered through AMAZON has always been very satisfying and of good quality. I have owned "Mayfair" oak toilet seats in past years and have always been impressed with their quality so when I went online searching for a new toilet seat I requested "Mayfair" product In less than a week of use my wife complained of something "sticking out and picky" and, upon investigation, I discovered the "sticking out and picky" was because this product is made of pressed wood covered with a thin oak veneer and the veneer was coming off and the inner core of pressed wood was crumbling and falling off into the toilet/onto the porcelain/and onto the floor. No where in the advertisement does the description mention veneer. We thought we were purchasing a solid oak Mayfair toilet seat as we have enjoyed in the past. I tried to re-glue the veneer but it would not adhere and the crumbling continues. I am very disappointed with my purchase of this product. It has been removed and destroyed because it was unsafe.

I have a Kohler oblong toilet about 20 years old. The original plastic seat broke and could only find a replacement for about $80 - and then not even in the right color. I ordered this to be neutral to the room - the color is lighter than traditional wood seats so it it is appropriate to match light colored wood bathroom cabinets - not oak. I went off the measurements as the Kohler has a very pointed front. This seat is the exact same shape and was a perfect fit. One note is that this is not really a wood seat - its some kind of formed wood with a plastic covering that looks like wood. Seems durable enough - fits exactly what I needed.

I bought this seat at Ace Hardware. The screws that connect it to the toilet at the back are built into the hinges, with plastic nuts on the bottom side that you tighten with your fingers. I could not tighten it enough so the seat didn't slip suddenly and unexpectedly sideways when used.
I finally saw one at Walmart that was a little bit wider and longer overall. It was also less expensive than the Mayfair seat that I bought originally.
The Walmart seat also has screws that can be tightened with a screwdriver on the top in addition to the plastic nuts on the bottom. That gives me a solid fit and no sudden slipping sideways.

Description given of the item I purchased was not what I had before. My Mayfair toilet seat I was replacing has a polyurethane finish. The Mayfair item I purchased from Amazon was not...needless to say kinda rough!!!! Even the picture shows the exact color of my previous one, however the one I purchased is dark and unfinished. Very disappointed but needed this in a hurry.

quality product for the price. brass hinges seem sturdy. natural oak color is very light.would ahve preferred a darker color
