Spectacular photography,

This is a perfect gift for a maniacal fly fisherman, the kind of guy that checks out the spiderwebs by the side of the creek to see what bugs have been hatching. The photographs of the various mayflies in different stages of their life cycles are absolutely, jaw-dropping spectacular. The accompanying text is mercifully light on the Latin taxonomy, but contains just the right amount of natural history. As a plus, some examples of flies imitating nymphs, duns and spinners are included at the end of each chapter, along with material info. Of course, they're well photographed, too. A few tips about fishing the hatches and spinner falls are tossed in as well. OK, so if you know what I'm talking about, you want this book. One caveat - the author lives in PA, so it's mostly about Eastern mayflies.

I purchased this book by Ted Fauceglia with the anticipation that his fine works were fully exemplified in this publication.
This book is an exceptional sample of Ted's work and I am immeasurably impressed by it. For the fly fisherman and fly tier this is a "must have" book, if not only to admire the beautiful insect images. The value in this book is not only the excellent images, but equqally the insect descriptions and distribution, along with the great fly patterns. Don't hesitate to buy it, it is great value and a work of art. Ashley Artis The Tasmanian Flyfisher Australia

The information in this book is well written and useful but what I truly enjoy are the photographs. They are excellent. Absolutely excellent. And the quality of the the print (Italy I think) is top shelf. Now, if you are a fly tier who would like a better look at the little bugs we try to imitate that will make this book even better. I am trying new ideas on old fly patterns jut to see if I can bring them a little closer to the real thing. Tight Lines
