5.0 out of 5 stars Like a reference book on the Mayflower but readable too, July 24, 2006
This review is from: The Mayflower and Her Passengers (Paperback)
If you want information about the Mayflower passengers, this is the best book for that I have seen. It is not a history of the Pilgrims but rather a series of about 50 biographies on all the Mayflower families, each bio is anywhere between 1 to 20 pages. It is full of names and dates and places like a reference book but still reads like biographies making it interesting to genealogists and history buffs both. Very detailed and well researched and lots of endnotes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book on the Mayflower, July 7, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Mayflower and Her Passengers (Paperback)
Caleb Johnson is known as one of the experts on the Mayflower. You can go to his web site (mayflowerhistory.com). I am a descendant of 5 of the Mayflower families, so I find those sections interesting. This has sections on each Mayflower passenger, as well as about 15 pages on the voyage. Some of the passengers only get a couple paragraphs, as that is all that is known. Others (such as Alden, Bradford and Standish) get 10-15 pages of info. If you are interested in the Mayflower history or if you are a genealogist with Mayflower ancestors, you will probably enjoy this book. I am addicted to genealogy so I enjoy having this book as a reference!

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly Readable, October 5, 2011

Another great work by Caleb H Johnson. His writing is clear and concise and quite readble, even if one doesn't have a Mayflower ancestor.
