Before buying this part I looked at the reviews and watched a couple of Youtube videos... one reviewer talked about this being a broiler ignitor as it was a "vertical unit" instead of a horizontal one... Know I know what he was talking about. After receiving the part and taking apart the oven I saw that this was not going to mount correctly. However after I got the old part off, I saw that the actual ceramic ignitor part was just fit into a metal housing and that it could be removed from the metal housing easily enough... which is what I did. The new ignitor replaced the old ignitor in the old housing which fit right back on where I had taken it off. PERFECT! It was not hard to do nor would anyone handy with a screw driver not be able to do this. I uploaded an image for this part number that shows the metal housing and the ignitor seperate so you can see better what I am talking about. I WOULD recommend this purchase IF your oven is not lighting... it was a great purchase for the price, (less than twenty bucks) instead of spending two or three times as much for the EXACT replacement part for your Maytag oven from some other vendor. Good fast shipping service from the vendor, as I ordered on Dec 23 and it got here on Dec 29. The oven now works as I am using it right now.

Bought this igniter because I thought it was the oven igniter. It is a broiler igniter because the mounting bracket is vertical attach rather than horizontal. It was my mistake, I did not research it enough. Once an electrical appliance part is purchased it's yours, so I have a broiler igniter in case mine goes bad. The igniter itself is identical to the oven igniter, the only difference is the bracket. Make sure of the mounting bracket before ordering any igniter. Amazon does not carry the oven igniter even though it almost looks identical, that's what led me astray.

Bought this after reading reviews, and for the money it did what it said it would, and that was fix my oven, some places wanted $80 or $90.00 for same part, the man whom I called wanted 75.00 just to come over and look.
It comes with instructions and cost about $30.00 if I remember right, took about 15 minutes and my oven worked like new again!

great generic ignitor, did everything it said it would - great price too. I change my maytag ignitor to this one.
If your ignitor looks orange it is bad - it needs to be so bright that it hurts your eyes to look at it

Repairing our oven ourselves saved us tons of money. This kit was perfect. We followed an online instruction video to do the repair.

Despite a couple of reviews that I read prior to purchasing this item that it is really the broiler ignitor and not the oven ignitor, I did not have any problem replacing this oven ignitor and did not have to make any adjustments. I am not a skilled handyman, and have fixed a few appliances around the house over the years (furnace, water heater, dryer), so I was willing to try to tackle this one as well. After watching one YouTube video I had the old ignitor out & the new one installed in about 10 minutes. It is a very, very easy job to do on your own. We suspected our ignitor was bad when it was taking an hour for the oven to pre-heat. So, if you're having issues with your oven pre-heating, or if you can hear the gas going on and off, it may very well be the ignitor.

I had to remove the ignitor from the metal holder (did not fit my oven bracket) and had to remove the plug and used the wire nuts and it works just fine. If everything had fit just right without these modifications I would have given it 5 stars. Anyway, it's a bargain - they want a lot more money for the same part at local suppliers as well as other websites.

Our oven stopped working, which is a major loss in our house. After my wife did some research online, we decided that the oven ignitor needed to be replaced. I did some further checking and found a great how-to video on YouTube showing exactly how to do it. Feeling confident about tackling the repair myself after watching the procedure, we purchased the new ignitor. The repair literally took me less than 15 minutes, start to finish. Anyone that can use a screwdriver and a small ratchet wrench should be able to make this repair! The part was a direct replacement for the original ignitor and bolted in place with no need for any modifications. Here is a link to the video I used for reference to do the installation:

The best price I found locally for this ignitor was more than $70. The Amazon price with shipping was less than $29. The packaging was new, the part was new, and everything worked out perfectly. It even delivered a day earlier than originally promised. Another great purchase from Amazon...thanks!
