We have owned high priced dish washers, and we have rented apartments early in life with economy dishwashers. The price point of this washer fell in the middle. It has a high end look, and the fit and finish seems good. Maytag offers a limited 10 parts waranty on the tub and pump.
Honestly this washer washes as well as our $1700 bosch dishwasher in our previous home. It is a tad louder, but for the $1000 savings it is worth it. Besides this washer is not by any measure loud. You can have a polite conversation right next to it while it is operating. It is just more audible than the bosch.
All in all I am completely satisfied with this purchase. We have had it for 6 months. It washes circles around the economy model it replaced. It seems well built as well.
I suspect the not drying factor that others have reported has to do with water temperature. Our dishes come out completely dry. The glasses come out clean and clear when rinse aide is full.
If you are considering droping a chunk of change on a high end dish washer give this one a look. It is a very good value. If it ends up having reliability issues Ill come back and edit my comment. Nothing lasts forever now. I bought this on sale for $600 complete. 5 years would be acceptable to me.

Update....over a year later and this dishwasher is still working wonderfully, it does not disappoint. I would buy it again.

We've owned this dishwasher for several months and have given it several tests to see if it can clean as we've read it can. Now for the review:

The Good - It does an excellent job cleaning. So if you want your dishes clean, as we do, this dishwasher should be near the top of your list. It passed all the tests, even the tests we expected it would fail. The adjustable top rack is a big plus for tall glassware. It looks great and is plenty quiet. Is it worth another $300-500 for 5 or so fewer decibels? Not!

The Bad - I agree with the following review comments:

1. The bottom pegs could be longer. But frankly, I'm not sure anyone makes them long enough for plates.
2. The bottom rack does tend to knock into the door if you pull it out quickly. It's a tough transition for any dishwasher. Not sure this is a big deal anyway.

The Wrong - I do not agree with the follow review comments:

1 Can't store enough glassware because of the adjustment handles...... This amounts to a grand total of one (1) glass if you add the space of both handles.
2. Gave it a 2 rating for the water fitting, seriously? This fitting is readily available at any hardware store for about $4.00. When used, it makes for an easy connection.
3. Dry dishes? I don't think there's a dishwasher you can buy for your kitchen that will have completely dry dishes the moment the "finished" light goes on/off. We turn the dishwasher on before going to bed. When we get up, perfectly clean dishes that are totally dry.

The Unknown - The control panel is the wild card. It does have an iffy history. Not sure how it stacks up to all the other completely hidden control panels by it was a point of concern for us.

Bottom line.....We wanted a dishwasher that did a great job cleaning dishes and looked great. This one does it!

The dishwasher does clean well and it is quiet. The upper rack adjusts to accommodate whatever you need to put in (such as stemware), however, if it is lowered too much, it will interfere with the silverware baskets. BUT - we've had it ten months and it quit. Just stopped working. No lights, no power, no nothing. As it turned out, we needed a control panel. It was a two week wait for the repair and part, so I've become re-acquainted with hand-washing dishes. The repairman did tell me that the previous year's model had been having similar problems and that there were other issues related to our model as well, although this was the first control panel he had to replace on this year's model. I guess some things on this model are pooping out so regularly, they carry the spare parts in their trucks.

I can't not recommend the dishwasher because it does do a good job of doing what we bought it to do. However, the reliability seems questionable and we're really glad we purchased the extended warranty. This was a $700 dishwasher. It really shouldn't be crapping out in less than a year.

This is a good dishwasher with a badly designed control panel. If it is installed under a counter (the way it would be in most kitchens), moisture that accumulates on the control panel will cause it to stop working after about a 12-18 months. This has now happened to our model TWICE (as well as to other reviewers here.)

So, one is either forced to buy the extended warranty or to pay expensive repair bills. Either way, you can expect this product to break down. It is not reliable.

I have had this machine or five days and already REGRET IT! For the money you'd expect it to wash AND dry the dishes but it only washes them. I rated it 3 stars for that and because it is very quiet. Nevertheless I would rather have more noise and dry dishes in the morning--YES, at least 8 hours over night still is not sufficient time to dry the dishes EVEN if you use the EXTRA-HEATED dry option.

Also, I purchased mine at SEARS and they delivered it with a lower-end-model's racks. I had looked at this model several times in store so I was able to detect such a scheme. Can you believe that? SEARS commented nothing concerning this mistake but will replace the racks for the right ones. Beware if purchasing from SEARS. Make sure you get what you paid for!
