VERY nice washer,

Unlike the first review of this product, I actually own it and will be rating this actual model rather than a model from years ago.
This Bravos washer does a great job of washing clothes even with a very limited amount of water. Further, since it has a huge tub, you can actually wash comforters with no problem. Our queen comforter came out as good as the laundromat that we used to have to take it to. A typical load takes about the same time as I recall for our old washer (traditional agitator Sears/Whirlpool), but the high spin rate actually makes drying times faster because so much water is removed in the spin cycle. Using different cycles and options you can raise wash time to over an hour(!) but the typical "normal" setting is just over 30 minutes; sheets are about 40 max. And this model is so quiet even when spinning, it is almost eerie. So far I am impressed. I'll update this if my opinion changes (I've only been using it two weeks so far as of 1/4/10)

Love doing laundry again! Worth every penny,

Straight to the point. This machine does what a washer should do and efficiently.
Between this and the matching dryer Maytag model MEDB850WQ0 they have made doing laundry fun again! They replaced my my prior Whirlpool top loader washer and dryer. The extra capacity washer and dryer along with the high efficiency washer have increased my wash time from start to end. Plus increased size of wash loads with a large family of 5 that seems to be never ending. I actually feel like I'm ahead of the game instead of playing catch up. The steam feature for refreshing a load that has been seating works. Plus is outstanding on knocking the wrinkles out of some clothing very quickly. I had to wait 5 weeks from time of purchase to delivery. I suspect this is due to people catching on to what a good deal these machines are. Not to mention you don't have to worry about the extra expense of pedestals and on the washer the increased possible mold/smell issues. As for some people reporting their clothes coming out with lint, torn, knotted, etc. I have never experienced this with this machine. This machine works very well. I have no smell issues with the machine or clothes. The clothes come out very clean. Noise level with this machine is quieter than my previous washer. It does have a quite jet engine sound when it gets into the high speed spin cycle, but it's still less noise than my previous top loader. I believe this machine beats the front loading HE machines hands down. Larger capacity. You don't have to spend the extra money for pedestals. Nor worry about possible mold/smell buildup issues that front loaders are known for. The first time I put a king size comforter into this machine I was amazed at how easy it is to drop in and pull out without an agitator, plus their was still extra room for a bit more if I wanted. I highly recommend this machine. Worth the extra money. I'll update this if my opinion changes. PS I don't work for Maytag or sell them.

FANTASTIC WASHER VERY HAPPY TO DO LAUNDRY,
This review is from: Maytag MVWB850WQ 28 5 cu. Ft. Top-Loader Washer - White
I have had my Maytag Bravos for about a month now and have washed many loads. I had a Maytag Neptune front loader that died after 6 years, I believe it shook itself to death. I absolutely love my Bravos. I have read the bad reviews and I don't agree with them, I have never had any problem with wrinkled or beat up clothes. Everything comes out very clean. It is very quiet and efficient. I think maybe the problem some people are having is using the wrong cycle. I was already used to a washer using less water to wash, so if you are not used to that maybe you don't believe that less water can work but it does. I highly recommend this washer.

MAYTAG MVWB850WQ NOT FOR ME,
This review is from: Maytag MVWB850WQ 28 5 cu. Ft. Top-Loader Washer - White
I purchased the Maytag Bravos during the rebate program in April of 2010 to replace my beloved 20 year old Maytag that had nothing wrong with it but I thought I'd help the environment by using less water and/or less electricity yadi ya. It is a beautiful washer with lighted panel and lovely bells and dings and glass top. That is where the beauty ends. Less water means less clean, worn out clothes, lint and fibers stuck to clothes, deoderant marks and wrinkles wrinkles and more wrinkles. The fabric softeners don't even have a chance to work because the clothes dry stiff and wrinkled if you don't put them in the dryer. I have tried every cycle, used HE soaps and it's all the same. My blouses get all tightly balled up as they are lightly tossed about in a couple inches of water. In the end, when I unravel the blouses (and cotton pants) from the little ball, they are so tightly wrinkled that I have to put them in the dryer. Now, I am using more electricity because I never dry my blouses and cotton pants as I like to hang dry them. I am going back to the store I bought it from and tell them to ship this washer back to the manufacturer to let them know that the engineering of this $850.00 machine is not up to par and I will purchase a machine that uses water and save electricity by not having to put my clothes in the dryer and do loads of ironing.

Buy only if you like rust!,

This washer looks and works well. However after 18 months of use the cabinet started rusting! It started inside of the machine along the leading edge of where the lower cabinet meets the lid assembly and is now spreading to the outside of the cabinet. Because this problem was noted after the laughable 12 month Maytag warranty Maytag will do nothing for me. What kind of "premium" high dollar washing machine RUSTS after less than two years?!?! Maytag does. Let the buyer beware!

JUST ANOTHER LEMMON,

My 5 year old Maytag washer has just died and, according to the repairman, it will cost $620 to fix it. It seems there was a recall on the washer because of an internal leak which is supposed to cause an electrical short, which, in turn can cause a fire. Well, the leak did not cause a fire, but it short-circuited the main circuit board. Now, Maytag (after being bounced around 5 or 6 times) says that the recall has expired and that because the washer is not under warranty any longer, there is nothing they can do. I used to be a loyal Maytag customer. Until today. DO YOURSELVES A FAVOR AND DO NOT BUY MAYTAG PRODUCTS, ESPECIALLY HIGH-END ONES. They don't care about their customers. Now, 5 years later, I have to buy a new washer. My previous one, the Kenmore which came with the house, lasted 15 years!
