My 3-year old Whirlpool duet front loader was giving out & the repairs were so expensive that I chose to purchase new machines. I've only done a couple of loads in this machine, but it seems to do a great job! Yes, better than the Whirlpool it replaced. Not a disappointment. I got the matching steam dryer and the laundry folding top (which I just love). Overall, I am pleased with the purchase. Advice: Do yourself a favor and get the extended warranty. They cost less than a repair call.

When my old top-loading washing machine broke down, I was determined to get a new front-loader. Reading the reviews on most of them, however, really made me nervous. I easily narrowed my options and finally chose this Maytag 4.0 cu ft Performance Series. Now I wonder why I ever considered anything else! I still don't know how it manages to clean clothes so well using so little water, but it does an excellent job! The wash cycles take a bit longer than I'm used to, but even heavy grass stains on denim in a very full load came out completely. This might cost more than a top-loader and other front-loaders, but it is well worth the money. My advice: spend the extra monty and get the pedestal! You'll never regret it.

As a person that has purchased top loaders only, I decided to make the switch to a front loader and can never imagine switching back. This machine is incredibly quiet, and cleans better than I could have imagined using so little water. I've always known that Maytag was a quality name, and this machine looks and cleans like it cost more that what I paid. I highly recommend it.

UPDATE: It's been over a year since I wrote the above review, and nothing has changed. My water and electricity bills have actually gone down. There is no way I could ever go back to a top loader.

About a week ago, I purchased the washer/dryer duet as a replacement for my 20 year old set. I am impressed because I can stack them to save precious laundry room space in my condo. I am in awe that I can watch the washer through the window do some very different things with my laundry in order to clean my clothes thoroughly. They perform very well and are true works of art. I would get an extended service plan because they seem to be pretty sophisticated pieces of machinery and driven by a computer chip. Sign of the times I suppose.

I love, love, love my new washer. It is so quiet & cleans clothes great! After using for one month, my water bill has gone down about 7 dollars!!
This washer has all the settings I need & I can even wash my king size comforter in it! The dispenser for the detergent, fabric softener & bleach is so very conveinent!
I purchased this washer online through Amazon. I got a really good price, as well as I did not have to pay sales tax or shipping. Although it did take a bit longer to receive the product (about 3 weeks), I stil am extremely pleased with the overall experience.

We have only owned our Maytag front loader for a year after the repair man came and said it was the bearing that were worn out and needed to be replaced the waurentee company thru Home Depot informed us they will not pay for repairs but give us 719.00 for a new washer. We paid over 850 for the washer only to have it a year and I think we should decide whether to fix it or trash it. Very disapointed in the performance of this machine not to mention the disapointment with Whirlpool and Home Depot.

Our household has been using this machine for a year and a half now for 3 adults (typically light soil levels) and 3 children (2 teen-age boys, heavy soil levels). I don't think the machine gets the heavily soiled clothes clean (a top load does better) and on top of that, the machine has developed the foulest smell that permeates the entire room. It is awful. We have followed directions, using the recommended HE laundry soaps and it still developed the smell. There are products you can buy for the smell; however, the mere fact that products are available says the smell is normal. In hindsight, I'd rather have my topload. Based on my experience with a frontload machine, I would not recommend them.

I bought a Magtag Front loader washer/dryer set in May of 2008. In the Fall of 2010, the Mother board on the dryer went out. I had not bought the warranty. Maytag did pay for the parts, but I had to pay labor, which as you know is costly. It took the repairman 3 visits before he could get the thing fixed.

Last night, my washer stopped working and gave me the F-01 error code, which means the mother board is out. Fortunatly, I did buy the extended warranty, so now I just have to deal with taking off work and scheduling the repairman.

Do not ever buy a Maytag product. They are horrible. And the washing machine is insanely loud.
