5.0 out of 5 stars Every RX-7 fan should read this one
I have just finished this book, plus the three extra omitted chapters, and I felt compelled to write this review. As a weekend mechanic, I appreciate how well- written the book is. So far I have learned so much more useful information in the past few days than I have in the past 7-8 months since I bought my 1993 RX-7. I particularly like the straight forward approach...

3.0 out of 5 stars No bad at all but...
It gives you a good basic about Rotary engine. But it won't give you any secrets. It just that same old information. No step by step methods. Just some same old information. Nothing more, nothing less. If you think it's like "How to Modify your RX7" by Al Downing and Dave Emanuel book. No, don't count on it.

So far I have learned so much more useful information in the past few days than I have in the past 7-8 months since I bought my 1993 RX-7. I particularly like the straight forward approach that you don;t always get with the various magazines. I already started doing a few things to the car that I didn't know needed to be upgraded so that I may avoid potential problems (the 3rd generation RX-7 is a great car, but it can be unreliable). I would recommend this book to all rx-7 owners

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for beginners Despite Over enthusiasm, December 21, 2001

This book is written in plain english and easily understood. I bought it because I wanted some rumours about RX7 cleared. All the topics are relevent and handy, making this book a keepsake. Simetimes the articles sound too enthusiastic, making you wondr if the reviews were objective, It's hard to get an objective review from a fanatic racer (as Ancas is). The only bad point is that the picture quality is poor and is in black and white.

Nevertheless, I am glad I bought it. Anyone interested in purchasing the RX7 or just purchased one should GET this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Both informative and fun to read, December 17, 2000
This review is from: Mazda RX-7 Performance Handbook (Motorbooks Workshop) (Paperback)
This book was such a refreshing change over the typical dry and boring auto performance book. This guy has a sense of humor, and besides being informative, the book is fun to read. I have an 89 Turbo II, and was impressed that someone finally addressed issues about MY car (seems like most of the magazines concentrate on the 93-95 RX-7). I learned a lot, and highly recommend this book. I visited the author's home page and bought this book as well as a model of my car! (been looking for one of those for years). Thanks, Mike

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-have for any RX-7 enthusiast..., January 31, 2001
This review is from: Mazda RX-7 Performance Handbook (Motorbooks Workshop) (Paperback)
This is one of the best performance handbooks I've ever read, bar none. The book covers the history of the car, and virtualy every kind of performance upgrade is covered in easily understood terms. It also tells which products work best for different applications, and gives great advice on racing the car in SCCA events. This is the RX-7 bible. Buy it now and enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book!!, December 14, 2000

Just received my copy of the book, and it was well worth the wait. I own a 1993 R1 and was happy to see that a big portion of the book relates to my car! It includes info on 3-rotor transplants, cooling tips, fuel injection tricks, and lots more. It is the most informative book on RX-7s that I have read and I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book!, February 20, 2001

This is an easy to read and informative book, unlike many of the performance books I have read over the years (much better than the first RX-7 Performance Book of the 1980's). It definitely helped me to look forward and think about what I want to do with my car before I go out and max out my credit card on parts that will be more detrimental than helpful in the long run. Now I feel I can better figure out where I want to go with my car (form vs. function), and set up a feasible budget to coincide w/ the direction I choose. The author is not only knowledgeable, but he is a good writer.

2.0 out of 5 stars Accurate but basic, December 22, 2008
This review is from: Mazda RX-7 Performance Handbook (Motorbooks Workshop) (Paperback)
I was hoping for something a little more technical, my bad.

It is a good review for someone who has done little car maintenance and wishes to learn the basics.

there is some surrounding information and historical story included but there are reviews elsewhere that are better.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book, December 11, 2007
This review is from: Mazda RX-7 Performance Handbook (Motorbooks Workshop) (Paperback)
This is a very informative book, only downside is that author seems to talk to casual and not formal enough, very rough writing needed a few more revisions. Very informative if you can get past the odd grammar. No color pictures, the technical data in this book is what saved its score, it goes into some very good ideas about how to make your rx-7 go faster and if you dont own one they have alot of information on the history of the rx-7
