About the Author

School Zone Publishing Company began as The School Zone Learning Center in 1972. The Learning Center was a retail teachers supply outlet, specializing in sales to teachers, with two stores in Grand Rapids, Michigan. About 1974, schools instituted changes in educational methods that affected the home and schools. Changes included introducing new teaching methods in math and English and eliminating workbooks provided on a shared basis for home use. With these changes, parents experienced difficulty finding educational material for use at home. Local parents turned to the Learning Centers, requesting workbooks and other at-home teaching aids. In response, the Centers formulated six workbooks and printed 1,000 copies of each. The books sold out in six months. An expanded workbook series was developed and received equally enthusiastic acceptance. School Zone Publishing Company was incorporated in 1979. A new line of workbooks had been written and illustrated by late 1979. In January 1980, the line was printed and School Zone began operations. Market response was extremely favorable. The product line has expanded yearly and currently includes almost two hundred educational products.

32 pages of mazes that would be ridiculously easy for 4-6 year olds. The first 15 mazes aren't mazes at all, they are simply a "follow the route from the bee to the flower"; there is no way to do the maze wrong. The second half are a little more challenging, but my 5 and 6 year olds wouldn't be entertained by them at all. My 4 year old, however, would like the book just fine, she's still working on controlling the pencil. I am giving it 4 stars because the suggested age is off (should be for 3 and 4 year olds, NOT 4-6 year olds), and because this book wouldn't last my 4 year old more than 3 sittings -- but if you don't have to pay shipping, the $5 isn't a bad deal.

Pretty good challenge for a toddler. Would be more interesting if the pictures used were of interest to this age group - i.e., trucks, trains, flowers, butterflies, princesses, etc. But still, no complaints and I will buy others from the same company.

I was hoping for slightly more interesting mazes for the age range listed of 4-6 years old. My 3.5 year old did all the mazes in about 10 minutes, before I could finish making dinner. Half the "mazes" in the book are single path, which I guess if good for practicing, but it seems like a high proportion for a slim book of 32 pages. Granted my child can hold the pencil pretty well already, but I was hoping for more mileage.

We've purchased several school zone dot-to-dot and maze books. My 3-yr-old son absolutely loves them. After he has completed the book he'll still go over and over the pictures or mazes until he talks me into a new book. They are just difficult for a beginner that is starting to control his dexterity. Very fun.

I bought this for my 3 year old, just to get him started and familiar with pre school, he took to it right away, using the maze as a road and having one bird meet the other, he really enjoys this workbook a lot.

Mazes get increasingly more challenging for your little one. We took turns doing the mazes, so my child could see the way I completed the maze before trying for herself on the following page. School Zone makes wonderful learning products.

WOW - This book is maybe good for a 3 year old, but no older. Definitely not 4 or 5yr olds. The first part of the book was following a straight/only path with no "maze." The last half had no real challenge, quite silly and a waste of money. I could have tried to return, but that wasn't worth my time.
Also note the picture shows 4-6 but the book is 3-5 (as noted in title).

I got these books in and my son (4 years old) sat down and did the entire book in a day, he loved it. I'll be ordering more for sure.
