Product Description

Editorial Review

Combining the enduring popularity of pretend food and pretend cash registers with the deep, true love many kids have for McDonald's, this play set seems to be a natural. Measuring almost 40 inches high and a little over 27 inches wide, it features a make-believe cash register, grill, deep fryer, and McFlurry maker. Thirty food accessories, such as burgers, fries, chicken nuggets, and pies, are included. The drive-through window opens and there is storage space in the cupboards beneath. As for the McDonald's association, well, it can work two ways. Either the budding restaurateur will be pining away for a trip to the real golden arches, or they'll be satisfied with a Mickey D's of their own. --John Moe

5.0 out of 5 stars McDonalds Food Cart, September 24, 2002

What a GREAT toy... my kids have played with this for days...nonstop! My son is 8 and my daughter is 5...they NEVER play together until we purchased this toy...no fighting...just fun! They both pretend to take orders, cook and serve. This toy makes noise as you fry french fries, pour soda and ring up orders...very fun...I got rid of so many Little Tikes toys and I wasn't sure about buying another big toy...glad I did! Lots of creative play here...On the down side, I'm not sure how sturdy the plastic is on the cart...it's not a Tikes toy but worth every penny...

5.0 out of 5 stars MCDONALD'S FOOD CART IS A WONDERFUL START!!, November 2, 2002

I RECENTLY BOUGHT THE MCDONALD'S FOOD CART FOR MY 2-YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. I WANTED TO WAIT UNTIL CHRISTMAS BUT I COULDN'T. IT'S SO CUTE! TOYS R'US HAD IT AT AN OUTSTANDING PRICE OF [amount]AND BELIEVE ME IT'S WELL WORTH THE MONEY. AS A FORMER MANAGER OF MCDONALD'S I CAN HONESTLY SAY THAT ALL THE SOUNDS ARE REALISTIC. IT CAME WITH ALL THE NECESSARY FOOD ITEMS MY DAUGHTER NEEDED TO RUN HER "MCDONALD'S DRIVE THRU". I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS TOY FOR LITTLE ONES WHO LIKE TO BE IN THE KITCHEN. IF BUYING FOR A CHRISTMAS GIFT YOU SHOULD CONSIDER GETTING THE HEAD-SET BECAUSE IT COMES WITH A MCDONALD'S HAT AND THE CHILD WILL TRULY BELIEVE HE/SHE IS A CREW MEMBER. FROM A MCDONALD'S LOVING FAMILY.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not perfect, but still tons of fun, December 25, 2003
= Durability:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars

Yes, I realize that this is totally a propaganda piece for nutritionally bankrupt dietary practices. Yes, it's true, the plastic isn't exactly Tupperware quality. Yes, the drive-through doors don't always open when you push the button like they're supposed to. Yes, it was absolutely boneheaded to make the Happy Meal and McNugget and fries boxes out of cardboard instead of plastic. But other than that? My son plays with this and the cash register almost every day. He loooooves it. LOVES. IT. It's by far his favorite toy and my son isn't gentle at all with any of his toys, and nothing's broken on it yet (it's been weeks.) What's more, it's a really good size. My son is a TALL 5 year old, and it's just the right size for him AND my friend's 3yo daughter. I love the fact that it has a bunch of doors and levers so that kids of many sizes and developmental levels can have fun tinkering around with it. My only complaint is that there's not much counter space from the "server" side; considering that my son also recently got the cash register that gets sold separately, I wish the teeny plastic non-functioning cash register that came attached to THIS toy were detachable so that my son could play with that instead. But all in all, unless this toy shipped quite a few lemons, I'm not really getting why people are hating on this toy so much. It's loads of fun and has provided all the neighborhood kids with hours of wholesome entertainment. (A side note: Many kids love to play with fake plastic food, but most toys that include this are girly "tea sets" and things for playing "house", i.e., and gender-biased items that parents of children of both genders may object to for various reasons. My son loves to play with plastic toy food, but won't touch any "pink girl-toys", so this was pretty much an ideal solution.) So in conclusion, is it a perfect toy? No, it really has some design flaws I'd prefer to live without. But is it worth the forty bucks? In the long run, I think so.
