McAfee Internet Security 2014

Comprehensive, Award-winning PC Security to Freely Explore Online

You want to enjoy the benefits of connecting, surfing, and shopping online and don't want to think about security risks. At McAfee, we live and breathe digital security, relentlessly working to stay several steps ahead of the bad guys. Every second of every day, we focus on one thing: keeping your digital life safe, so that you can surf, shop, and socialize online with confidence.

Fend off Viruses and Malware

High-performance Scanning Engine (Enhanced)

We built our next-generation scanning engine to guard your PC from the latest viruses, Trojans, spyware, rootkits, and other threats, all without seriously compromising battery life or slowing down your PC.

Safe Searching and Shopping (Enhanced)

With color-coded icons next to every search result, including popular social networking sites, you'll know if the site you're about to visit is safe.

Digital Data Message (Enhanced)

We provide information about the location of the blocked IP address and what makes the connection unsafe.

Home Screen

Got a touch-friendly device? Our new home screen is built for ease of use with these devices. And it still works great with a track pad or mouse, so navigating to common security tasks is a breeze on any device.

Security Reports

We've redesigned the security report to bring you the information you need in visually interesting ways. The new report includes relevant images and links for an easier-to-understand snapshot of what's going on in the world of security.

Vulnerability Scanner

If your operating systems (OS) and programs are out of date, you could be vulnerable to threats. The new vulnerability scanner checks your PC for missing updates, and then recommends solutions to keep you safe.

Malicious Ads and Popup Protection

Websites don't always have control over the ads they display. Sometimes, you might find a risky ad on a site you trust every day. McAfee automatically blocks suspect malicious ads to keep you portected.

Block Spam and Unwanted Email

Antispam (Enhanced)

All those unwanted emails aren't just annoying. They could be malicious. We'll filter out all the undesirable stuff to keep you and your inbox protected. And the antispam engine integrates with new technology to make sure the right emails are making it into your inbox.

Keep Your Family Safe

Parental Controls

Worried about your kids seeing stuff they shouldn't? Parental controls let you block inappropriate sites with age-based rules and adjustable categories. You can even limit the amount of time they spend online and print reports for every user you've set up.

Surfing Report

Find out what your kids have been up to online through the surfing report. You'll know when they log in, if they attempt to access forbidden sites, and how much time they spend online.

1.0 out of 5 stars Frustrated January 4, 2014
By Jessica
Platform for Display:PC|Verified Purchase
I purchased this for my mom who just got a new laptop with windows 8 . I spent about 6 hrs at my moms house trying to get everything loaded and finally gave up. A few days later I brought it to my house figuring it was just her Internet taking so long. Everything finally loaded after about another 3 hrs and then a screen popped up saying I needed to install windows that was compatible with this! On the front it says compatible with windows 8! Totally frustrated I gave up!!

5.0 out of 5 stars IT'S MY CHOICE EVERY TIME ...... April 11, 2014
Platform for Display:PC|Verified Purchase
Gave it 5 stars because I've not found a reason to give it less. I've used McAfee for years. I especially like the Quick Clean feature that cleans up my computer's unnecessary temporary files along with clearing the cache and history and other things that take up space and can slow down a computer.

I was hesitant this time when I bought it though, because it was for a download with a subscription code card number. I've always used a CD for the install in prior years. When I recently bought a new laptop, I separately bought an external disc drive since my laptop doesn't contain one. Who knew that things I used to install via a CD are pretty much now only offered as downloads, online. This is one of those things. I was nervous trying a new way to install my McAfee Internet Security but I worried needlessly. It was quite easy and I didn't run into any problems whatsoever. The product works as it should and like I expected it to.

I do want to mention that I think some people said if you already have a subscription to McAfee, when you install a new version, it extends your subscription for another year from the end date of your old subscription. I didn't find that to be true. My previous subscription, that came with my new laptop, was due to run out on (not sure of the date now), let's say, 3/26. I installed the new subscription on 3/24/2014. It didn't extend my subscription to 3/26/2015. Instead, it subscribed me from the date of installation, 3/24 for one year, to 3/24/2015. So, if you still have a week or two left on your current subscription, I would advise not installing the new one before then. It's not the worst thing in the world but, it appears you will then lose that week or two that were still remaining on your old subscription.

3.0 out of 5 stars Better rating if installation had gone smoothly December 31, 2013
By Justin
Platform for Display:PC|Verified Purchase
Installing this product wasn't easy. I had conflicting information from both the product and my computer on whether or not it had actually installed. McAfee kept saying numerous times it had failed to install but my computer showed that it did in fact install. After restarting my computer for the third time it finally said it had successfully installed.Somehow I ended up using all three licenses even though I installed them on only two computers. Also, my account on Mcafee's website showed much different information on my subscription than the program installed on my computers did. Even now they both have conflicting details.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor Purchase December 9, 2013
Platform for Display:PC
Bought this on Black Friday with the Lightning Deal. As soon as I downloaded the product it bogged my computer down. Tried it for a couple of days but then finally uninstalled and now it's working perfectly. Glad I didn't pay full price, it's not worth it at ALL.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top line product from McAfee - better than Norton June 19, 2014
Platform for Display:PC|Verified Purchase
This is my favorite product that has beat all products used in my 15 years of working the internet. I carries the top rating of 5 stars because I have not been infected with anything visible since using this product. When I worked for the military, they switched from Norton to McAfee because of the security and speed which has not been toped by any current product that I tested. I have use the free products but why do that when you can pay less than $30 bucks to cover up to 3 system. Great product and will keep ordering as long as no other shines to beat it!

1.0 out of 5 stars Beware July 18, 2014
Platform for Display:PC
Hard to believe McAfee receives positive reviews based on my experience. I made the mistake of buying this about two weeks ago. First, I tried to connect from my Winbox to the retail site; after punching in the product code, my browser popped up with a warning that the security certificate was not valid! Unless someone somehow poisoned my DNS cache that's not a home user problem. Then I went to the McAfee's website via my Mac. I used two different browsers and while neither flashed a warning about the certificate, the website said I could download the software, but no link was provided, my cart was empty, and the only link went to my account page, which had no indication that I had purchased the software. I then tried to re-enter the product key on the retailcard webpage, and it said I had already done so. I next went to chat. Hah. Doesn't work, even with pop ups enabled on two different web browsers. So now I have purchased a product I cannot use. Great.

Consider this: if you're an internet security company that can't provide a valid certificate, has a critically non-functional website, and won't deliver your product, do you deserve anyone's trust?
