I always order from Amazon because of the excellent shipping, prices, and service. As far as McAfee, I had some problems installing because it did not like the fact that I already had a version of McAfee Total Protect installed on my computer. I did have to contact McAfee support, and they were helpful. The problem is that if you are currently running a version of McAfee that is expired or is expiring soon, and you install a new version on top of the old, it gives you "subscription" errors. I had to eventually uninstall completely the old version in order to upgrade to the new. I just wish McAfee would have warned me about this in the first place because they do offer the "upgrade" option with their product. In other words, they need to issue a fix to previous users so that it doesn't conflict with the registratino process.

It generally does the job, but tends to favor Internet Explorer over Firefox. For example, I cannot get rid of the Site Adviser toolbar in Firefox without disabling the function of Site Adviser. I want the screen real-estate back. Why does every vendor have to shove their tool-bar in our faces without asking? And when newer versions of Firefox come out, it seems to take it a few weeks to be ready for that version.

I bought my dad a copy of McAfee Total Protection for his birthday and he seemed pretty happy with it. He started having a problem with his computer and McAfee was displaying pop-ups that he wasn't protected. He called McAfee and they told him that he had a trojan on his computer. They said that they'd clean it off for $300. I can't believe he paid them, but they had him so scared that he'd transfer it to someone else or infect any new computer he got that he went ahead with it. I can't believe the audacity of them - first their program lets the virus on his system and then they have the nerve to charge him $300 to remove it. I immediately took McAfee off of my system and let Microsoft install its freeware antivirus program.

What a great price Amazon sells this at. I uninstalled my old version and reinstalled this new version and activated it. It seems to be working fine.

Bought this at the big box store, it seemed to work for about 6 months. Then, as others have also experienced, pop-ups, keyboard freezing up, touchpad not working. Then called McAfee, and they said what I had was not a virus but an OS problem that they would be happy to fix for $129.99. I politely declined, barely being able to hang up amid all of the protestations and threats. I uninstalled the 'protection' of McAfee with a free decrapifier and now the computer is back to running perfectly (using Avast and Malwarebytes for protection, they work very well together). McAfee is worse than a rip-off which you can just walk away from, you have to actually work to remedy the mistake of buying it.

Did okay as what it's supposed to do for a year except that firewall occasionally had to be turned off to get on internet then it could be turned back on. However, at the end of that year, all features are disabled except for virus-like pop-ups prompting to renew. I was certainly aware that it was a time-limited subscription but I thought that was to updates in virus detection algorithms. To totally disable features of software was surprising as I thought I purchased an unending user license. No where that I see does McAfee clearly state that software is largely unusable when subscription to updates ends. I think this is outright deceptive. I contacted McAfee and got useless support that's clearly sourced outside of U.S. as the person barely spoke English.

since purchasing and installing McAfee in my computer six months ago, once every month it shuts down and sends a warning that my (1 year) subscription has expired and it requires phone calls and tech chats to get it up and running again. and now this past weekend, McAfee did some bad software update that made me unable to connect to the internet, and after FINALLY correcting their problem and getting back online, now McAfee keeps giving me error pop up messages. I am uninstalling everything McAfee on my computer and going back to Norton or another service. what a nightmare McAfee has been in my life.
