This is a great book that encourages my child becauses it gives their grade level by how many they get right. They are encouraged with each right answer. This book has helped more than any other reader I have bought!!!!!

There are six booklets in this series (plus an answer one)(my review based on the 1979 edition). The six booklets, A-F (not A-E as listed in the Amazon title), correspond to the reading levels of Grade 3-8. Each page of the booklet has a short story, followed by eight questions. Some of the answers are obvious, while others require the use of context clues in order to answer correctly.
The subjects of each of the short stories vary widely. These include Indian (Native American) lore, science, Aesop's fables, etc. This series is valuable not only for testing children, but also for engaging in reading activities on various subjects. The brevity of the stories helps with children having short attention spans.

The reading selections in this book are varied, entertaining and educational to my 6 year old who is finishing up Book A and at a 3rd grade comprehension level. Having all the reading selections in one book has been convenient and economical for us. In addition, you will need the answer guide, which makes checking answers and determining grade level comprehension very quick and easy.
