5.0 out of 5 stars McCaulley did it right!!, April 2, 2011
This book is a collection of prints by western art cartoonist Bud McCaulley. The prints are fun and hilarious, they date from 1970. The poor cowboy always finds himself 'in a fix'. Each print contains a little blue bird, which was the basis for his start in "fun" sketching. Bud McCaulley is a "self-appointed "native" Texan". He moved to Amarillo, TX is 1962 from Kansas City, Missouri. His first and most recognizable print is titled "Cliffhanger". This print has also been made into a bookmark. It shows a cowboy and horse, having fallen off a cliff. The cowboy is holding a branch that has come off and the horse is grabbing another by his teeth; while 2 buzzards look up at them. The original "Cliffhanger" is a cowboy with his arms wrapped around a branch on the side of a cliff - still mounted on his horse and the blue bird hanging from the reins. If you like western art that's combined with cartoonist humor then you should check out the works of Bud McCaulley. This book contains 15 of his first sketches.
