I knotted up my calf muscle on a run and needed a calf support. In a panic I bought three different brands and tried each. The McDavid was the only one that worked while the knot was still there. That's because not only does this one compress, it also generates heat well. It really did a great job for me and this combination allowed me to continue my workouts. The downside is that because it generates heat, you sweat, which runs into your socks.

Be aware they sell these one at a time instead of in pairs like most do.

After my calf was better, I switched to the 2XUs which are lighter, better looking, and compress well. However, they don't generate heat and are expensive. The 2XUs are great for calf support for maintenance, but not if you need heat to get you through it. 2XU Calf Guards

I have been dealing with shin splint pain and suspected stress fracture in one leg for many weeks now. The crutches that I was given were irritating a previous shoulder injury, and the heavy boot I was given was wreaking havoc on my knee joint. I needed something lighter to wear around the house that would give an extra level of support to my leg. After only a few hours of wearing this support, my leg is nearly pain-free. I think I'll wear it for an extra margin of support when I ease back into my running program. I only docked it one star because, yes, it's neoprene, and neoprene doesn't breathe. When I remove it, it's all sweaty, but I just wash it with some liquid soap under the faucet and let it dry overnight. The correct size felt a bit too snug when I first put it on, but it's fine now - I can't really tell I'm wearing it.

The quality of this calf supporter/brace is excellent, and the price was quite reasonable. It also arrived in very little time (about a week). I recommend both the item and the vendor.

I received this product last week and used it a couple of times. My problem was that I had a calf strain because of running. While the product felt snug around my calf and kept the heat in I feel like it didn't do 100% of its job. I found another calf support later on which works like a wonder. Its called Calf Skin by BioSkin sizes XS-XXL, its neoprene and latex FREE! so no more sweaty neoprene! Its sooo thin and comfortable you barely know its there. I strongly recommend to any runners out there.

I bought these after doing some research about how to avoid re tearing a calf muscle that I injured last summer while preparing to get back into 5K races. I had dropped 15 lbs and was running great until one paarticular morning when my calves were super tight and no amount of stretching brought them comfort. I pushed through and felt a pop in my right calf, three days before the race. This summer I have ramped up my running slowly and have utilized this calf sleeve (both calves) on long runs, cold runs and when I race. My first 5K since I was 19 yrs old and at 36 and 192 lbs I ran a 25:00 and had zero pain afterward in the calves!! whats more is that I wasnt that tired afterward. Im writing this as I prepare for two more weekends of racing and further utilization of this amazing product. Dont worry about looking goofy, because you will get a lot of questions about feedback and where to buy them. They work.

When you take your measurements, be sure to use a non-stretchy material, if not a plastic tape measure, to get the most accurate results. The support does have a minute amount of stretch to it, but not too much.

I also suggest ordering a size above the one it suggests for your calf size, as was suggested by other reviewers. My calf measured at just under 15" in circumference, so I ordered a large to be on the safe side. And it fit the way I expected a neoprene support should. It was a little difficult to get on the first time, but it was easier the second time, after I had broken it in a little.

Bought these things after pulling a calf muscle playing old man football. They held me together and didn't pull my calf again in other games. Couple of quick things to note. Know that you must to wash these things after each use. Washing is easy just rinse in cold water and/or with mild soap. Go to the McDavid website for info on which size to order, as Amazon does not give a real explanation of the sizing. Delivery was fast.

I have had problems re-injuring my calfs for about two and a half years. Since I have used them about 4 months I have not pulled my calf muscle. They fit tight which is probably why they are helping.

I got these a couple weeks ago. I had been having problems with some swelling in my shins, along with a painful burning. The cause is from diabetes they think. I could not walk more than a block before the pain was so much I had to stop. Now, while wearing these on my walks there is no more pain. I can walk as long as I want, and these stop the pain. I tried walking without them a few times and without them the burning returned, so I know that these work. Only thing to be careful about is make sure to gentle rinse them off after use.
