4.0 out of 5 stars Sizing is confusing!
I got mine originally for my knees and it was a Large. When it got here it's only big enough for my elbows. I'll include the sizing for everyone's reference (from the back of packaging):

Size - Circumference
XS - 7.5-9" or 18-23cm
S - 9-12" or 23-31cm
M - 12-16" or 31-41cm
L - 16-20" or 41-51cm
XL - 20-23" or...

2.0 out of 5 stars Durability Issue
Bought a pair of these and they lasted less than one half of a basketball game before the material tore and the padding was coming out. My 9 year old daughter does spend a fair amount of time on the court diving and skidding for loose balls, but that's why we bought the knee pads in the first place. She did like they way they felt vs traditional ones so we tried another...

Comfort feels ok for my elbows but may return it to fit for my knees :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Definite protection!, January 10, 2011

Bought this for my oldest daughter who is in middle school. She is the center for her team. These pads are great and protect the knee well. They are not big or bulky like other knee pads. They stay in place and do wash. The first pair lasted over a year. This is my second pair and I would not get any other knee pad because they work so well. There are little hex shaped pads inside closely together to protect from injury. When she has fallen she no longer brusies. She says they are comfortable and she does not feel the impact of the floor. Because they have worked so well we bought them for our youngest and she equally likes them as well. They have a tight fit so when ordering take that into consideration. I ordered a large for my oldest and a medium for my youngest. I would recommend these pads to anyone who wants to protect the knee.

2.0 out of 5 stars Durability Issue, February 28, 2011

She did like they way they felt vs traditional ones so we tried another pair and the same thing happened. I hope they can improve the durability of the fabric in the future cause she really liked the comfort.

When I first looked at them I thought they were kind of cheesy because of how thin the padding is, but looks can be deceiving. I use them when I goalie (hockey). The bottom of my knees were getting abused by my Bauer goalie knee pads. I had bought 2 volleyball knee pads before these, but both didn't work out. The Nike one didn't help what so ever and the other one broke down too fast. These have been holding up great and feel very comfortable.

5.0 out of 5 stars great product, December 28, 2011

This is a very good protection gear for your knees.
Recently I bumped really hard wearing these and while other people thought I was in great pain I just felt a thud and that was it.
It was weird because the other guy(we hit each other knee to knee.) who was hit lied on the ground grabbing his knee as if it was broken or something.
If he and I hit the same place with the pad between us shouldn't he feel the same way I did?
Maybe he was faking.(I was called for a foul.) I'm going overboard so I'll stick with the point.
There were several other incidents but it will take too long to write them all down.
I just want to say I way really relieved that I had these on.
Not only are they good for protection but they are effective in compressing the knee joints, too.
Lately after several years of playing basketball and running long miles my knee feels wobbly.
Unless I warm up for at least 15 minutes I feel I might get really hurt.
With the knee pads on and them pressing my knee joints together I feel much better and I can move around as I used to.
All in all I recommend this product.
It's really great.
I've read all the reviews before buying them and I see what other people were trying to point out.
For one, if you're always down on your knees and you need protection for that I wouldn't recommend these.
The floor will wear it out and surely the hexpad will pop out any sooner than you expected.
I think these pads are useful only for bumping rather than rubbing(fritction) if you know what I mean.
Also the other big issue, size matter, I think I figured that out.
Not just here but there were other websites selling these and there were a lot of people complaining about the size.
I live abroad and I was worried because it will cost me a lot of money just to return them.
So what I did was buy two different size(size M and L) and try them both on and if one doesn't fit just sell that one and wear the one.
I'm not recommending other people to do that.
What I found out by buying two different size was that there are two versions(or at least two) of these pads.
They look the same but the size chart is different.
I saw the product date and the one made in 2010 was much smaller than the one made in 2011.
You can find the 2011 one size chart on mcdavidusa.com.(Another reviewer wrote that down so you can check his or hers below.)
I don't have the 2010 one(medium size) anymore but I remember the label saying 25-28cm(around 10~11").
Since the 2011 medium says 31-41cm(12-16") that's a big difference.
So if you're going to buy these be sure to ask the seller which year the knee pads were made.
I've never used other knee pads so I can't compare these with other products but I do recommend these if you have no other choice.
They have definitely helped me out and extended my basketball life.

2.0 out of 5 stars Comfortable but not durable, March 28, 2011
By
JB "JB" (TX United States) - See all my reviews
These pads might hold up ok for sports played on wooden floors that would let the pad slide but in my case, the hexagons started separating the first time I used the pads for indoor soccer as a keeper. Initially they provided, good, comfortable protection but now 5 games and a few dives later, most of the hexagons at the center of my knee have separated from each other and are just barely dangling inside the fabric. They are pretty much useless at this point except for abrasion protection.

My son really likes these pads, but they dont hold up well for tough sports. After one football game the hexagon pads start breaking loose. This particular style is too small for knees, so we had to send it back.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved this product., January 16, 2012

My son has trouble with his knee and we have been looking for a good knee brace for a while. He is super skinny and we were having trouble finding one that fit. This brace fits well and washes up great. I wash it once a week and there are NO signs of wear at all. It does fit small since it could be used as an elbow brace. I ordered a xs at first then returned it for a small. Love the product.

5.0 out of 5 stars My son's knee pads, January 13, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My son needed knee pads for basketball this year. We found these. They work great, are lightweight and give good protection for those times when he is close to the floor, which is quite often when he is playing defense. They can be warm at times.
