Pain subsides almost at once.

I would recommend this for any one who has knee pain, who runs, who plays sports or even who's over weight.

The rough part of the velcro rubs against our skin behind your knee.

I have patellar tendinitis on my knees from playing basketball and other sports which put a lot of stress on the knees. This strap actually help reduce the pain so that it is barely noticeable while you play (depending on the intensity of your workout or sport). The doctor informed me that my case of patellar tendinitis was close to severe. Often I can visually see the swelling after a couple hours of basketball. What this strap does is puts pressure against the tendon that swells, keeping it tight in against your knee cap and bones. Surprisingly by doing this, the pain is very manageable and sometimes not even noticeable with lighter impact workouts or sports. It somewhat "masks" or temporarily hides the pain and allows you to workout and play sports without having the pain bother you. My patellar tendinitis still bothers me to this day but this strap allows me to do what I enjoy doing without letting the tendinitis hold me back. I've been using these straps for over 9 years and have gone through countless straps and replace them as they wear out when the Velcro no longer does its job. They work really well for me and I hope they will do the same for you. I have a couple of other straps of different brands and they all seem to work the same. This one is just the first brand I bought and have the most of. Remember to ice your knees after a heavy or high impact workout!

Will it help you dunk, no
Will it help you run faster, no
Will it help you do anything better, probably not.
What is it good for? To prevent old guys like me from hurtin' :)

I run, (or used to) and whenever I got to mile 8, my left knee would start to hurt. Once I put it on, I stopped feeling that pain. So for runners, it's great. Never really felt this pain in basketball as a lot of my friends wear it when playing ball, but from the way they use it, it seems like it works. Just make sure you wash it, it soaks up your sweat.

I have used the old styled straps for years and loved it. Unfortunately, I lost mine and had to buy another pair. I can confirm that the new styled one is TOO SHORT, and therefore the Velcro WILL rub against your skin. Making this strap UN-useable.

Another example of the manufacturer trying to maximize profit by cutting corners and making a perfect good product useless. Shame to them and unfortunate to us.

I had a knee issue where any plyometrics or jumping/lifting done would lead to swelling and flaring of the knee. I went to the doctor and it was as expected a very severe case of jumpers knee. I'm a high jumper so it's pretty common to get. I was told to order these by my physician AND THESE WORK WONDERS!! It took a couple weeks but I am 100% healed after wearing these knee straps. I no longer feel any pain while doing my workouts or competing. They add the extra support you need to the patella tendon. The only reason I'm giving these 3 stars is because they wear down very quickly. I can no longer use these as they pop loose once I start jogging or jumping around. The Velcro wears off really quick and they are pretty much unusable now. I'd look into knee sleeves if you want durability

I had this strap for years, then lost it. I went to get a replacement, but the store I went to didn't carry the McDavid, so I bought a Bike strap and a Cramer knee brace. Neither of them worked as well as the McDavid. I was glad to find this on Amazon. The strap is simple, just velcro, but it's made of flexible material. I've never had a problem with it slipping off. It really reduces my knee pain (I've had 3 right knee surgeries, including ACL replacement, and have very little cartilage left in there). Highly recommended.

Unless you have extremely skinny legs, this will literally make holes in the back of your leg. It is designed backward, instead of the soft part of the Velcro touching you skin, they have the rough , hook part rubbing against the back of your leg. It works because the discomfort you get from the Velcro boring a hole into your skin makes you forget that your knee hurts. I returned mine.

The rough part of the velcro rubs against our skin behind your knee. I could imagine that if I actually wore this for a run it would cause some very severe chafing. Returned back to Amazon.com

I've purchased about 5 different brands/styles of knee straps for running - every other one rubs against the back of my knee or causes discomfort, this is my 2nd McDavid knee strap, and, i'll continue purchasing only this brand
