Great ankle support.

Like the product, but the fit is a little tight there was no way for me to know what size I need to order for the right fit.
Willie Williams
They also had a binding sewn around the top and bottom that digs into your foot.

In spring of 2011, I had a grade II sprain. Since the spring, I've dealt with foot and ankle pain off and on. When I apply pressure to the afflicted area, I experience immense relief. Typically, I use a Mueller Adjustable Ankle Stabilizer, Black, One Size. The pressure the Mueller ankle support provides is adjustable through the use of straps, which is a very nice feature. However, the Mueller brace is bulky and is not comfortable to wear with dress shoes.

I was excited to happen upon this Neoprene support. It seemed sleek and was subtle in appearance. I was not disappointed when I received it. The black is relatively discreet and the thickness is minimal compared to the Mueller brace. The neoprene brace is easy to slip on. It stretches in order to place it on the ankle but does not shift during wear. I wear this neoprene brace with work shoes and when I get home switch to the Mueller support.

The only con I've found is that the neoprene support does not yield the level of pressure that the Mueller support provides. Again, the Mueller support can be adjusted to the level of pressure the individual needs; the neoprene brace provides a good deal of pressure but I would like more. Because the neoprene support lacks straps, the pressure that is applied is relatively even across the ankle and cannot be adjusted. Admittedly, if the neoprene product had straps, it would probably be too bulky to wear with work shoes.

I realize everybody has different ankle sizes, but I am a male (6' tall, 200 lbs, with size 11.5/12 feet) so I originally ordered a LARGE, which matches the sizing recommendation on the product package. When I received it, the ankle support was too big, providing absolutely NO compression to my ankle.

So, I returned the item, and it only cost me about $2 in shipping charges via USPS. I then ordered a MEDIUM, assuming it would be a better fit. Now that I have received the medium size, it also is too large. Honestly, it feels almost just like the large. Needless to say, I'm a little frustrated.

I'm sure that some people will not have any problem with the sizing, and from what I can tell, the product itself is exactly what I wanted (other than the size). But my honest recommendation is not to purchase this type of item online, unless you are somehow able to confirm that it will fit you appropriately and give the level of compression/support that you want/need.

I wear a size 10 in women's shoe. I also have very high arches and thin ankles. I bought this in a size Small and it fits me perfectly. Just tight enough without it being over tight.

My big complaint is the seam that runs along the bottom of the product. It is thick and if you don't wear a sock with it, it digs into the bottom of your foot and is very uncomfortable while walking.

However, as soon as I put it on my foot, I can feel a difference in support. I wear it because I sprained my ankle while running. It's helping me recover and also offering just enough compression to help with the swelling. I'll continue to wear it as I get back into running.

McDavid makes some super nice products. This ankle support is what they call "Protection Level 1," or almost no protection at all. It's more of a compression brace than anything else. My podiatrist recommended that I transition to one of these while I finish healing a strained peroneal tendon and start to amp up my training (I'm a runner and rolled my ankle one too many times).

Sizing runs small on these. I wear a men's size 9 and the small is good enough to provide some decent compression. For those curious, the sizing breaks down as:

Size / Men's / Women's
Small / 6-9 / 7-10
Med / 9-11 / 10-12
Large / 11-13 / 12-14
XL / 14+ / 15+

The biggest con is the seam down the middle of the foot. It's not too terrible though. I've gotten used to it.

i have really small ankles. I got the small, but it's still big on my ankle. i'm not a small woman. Just average... but the small was still a bit loose. Good quality though.

Product runs large so have to return it. They need to change the sizing or better explain. Returning it will be a hassel.

My dad is really picky about the ankle supports he has. He had trouble finding this exact shape and material at the stores. I got him this one and he loved it. So if this shape and material is what you are looking for, get it.

I purchased this brace because the Ace brace I previously used was uncomfortable. I thought neoprene would be smoother and not dig into the side of my foot. Unfortunately, this brace has a thick seam right under the heel. It runs large and I have the smallest size, so I wear it over my sock, but I feel the seam ridge under my foot, and it's even more uncomfortable than the Ace brace. I feel as though I'm wearing high heels, and I'm off balance! I also wish the top edge of the brace ended up higher on my leg because when I bend my ankle the top edge digs into my leg. I'm giving it 2 stars because it does seem smooth otherwise, and it does provide me with enough support. However, I won't wear it. I prefer the Ace which is pretty comfortable if I wear the brace over a sock so the seams don't irritate my skin.
