4.0 out of 5 stars Worked well for what it is
My son has Sever's disease, which is common in pubescent children. His heel hurts so bad on occasion that it almost brings him to tears. This support seems to help. It isn't a cure and I don't think I would use it for much more than a little added support. It can be used on either foot.

3.0 out of 5 stars nothing wrong with the product itself, but the sizing is off
I realize everybody has different ankle sizes, but I am a male (6' tall, 200 lbs, with size 11.5/12 feet) so I originally ordered a LARGE, which matches the sizing recommendation on the product package. When I received it, the ankle support was too big, providing absolutely NO compression to my ankle.

So, I returned the item, and it only cost me about $2 in shipping charges via USPS. I then ordered a MEDIUM, assuming it would be a better fit. Now that I have received the medium size, it also is too large. Honestly, it feels almost just like the large. Needless to say, I'm a little frustrated.

I'm sure that some people will not have any problem with the sizing, and from what I can tell, the product itself is exactly what I wanted (other than the size). But my honest recommendation is not to purchase this type of item online, unless you are somehow able to confirm that it will fit you appropriately and give the level of compression/support that you want/need.

I wear a size 10 in women's shoe. I also have very high arches and thin ankles. I bought this in a size Small and it fits me perfectly. Just tight enough without it being over tight.

My big complaint is the seam that runs along the bottom of the product. It is thick and if you don't wear a sock with it, it digs into the bottom of your foot and is very uncomfortable while walking.

However, as soon as I put it on my foot, I can feel a difference in support. I wear it because I sprained my ankle while running. It's helping me recover and also offering just enough compression to help with the swelling. I'll continue to wear it as I get back into running.

Product runs large so have to return it. They need to change the sizing or better explain. Returning it will be a hassel.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not suitable for tropics, July 20, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Been wearing the futuro ankle guard which gives adequate breathing for tropics environment (30-33 degC) for a month now. I wanted to try an alternative.
The McDavid Neoprene is not suitable for tropics environment, uncomfortable due to the lack of breathing and sweating, no fault of the product, i did not do sufficient research on this issue.

Also it seems at first i bought a size too big as it is too loose above the ankle bone (between ankle and knee section), my shoe size which is size 11 is the lower range of the large scale recommendation. I suspect that the medium would have been too tight as i had some trouble working the ankle support thru my feet. I wear normal shoes and do not need to attend to any special needs when selecting them.

So i give it a 3 stars. It will be sitting in my store room......until i shift to a cooler climate and my parts of my ankle increase in size.

Great ankle brace, actually bought an extra to always have one in each sports bag. Still able to move and jump, but gives support to a twisted, weak ankle.

If you have really minor ankle sprains, you can use this. Otherwise i recommend McDavid Level 3 Support as i couldn't walk properly for 2 days. I have bought both of them and found Level 3 support to be more useful.

4.0 out of 5 stars Strong product and what I expected., December 10, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I am a runner, and experienced ankle/plantar issues of late. I tried a couple of other products for support, but found this product was the best for support and comfort. I love that fact that it's neoprene: it has a sturdy feel and seems it will last a good long time. My only complaint: I like to wear the brace under the sock, and the label irritates my skin when I run.

4.0 out of 5 stars Less bulky than a Mueller brace; does not provide as much pressure as I would like, November 3, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: McDavid Neoprene Reversible Ankle Support (Sports)
In spring of 2011, I had a grade II sprain. Since the spring, I've dealt with foot and ankle pain off and on. When I apply pressure to the afflicted area, I experience immense relief. Typically, I use a Mueller Adjustable Ankle Stabilizer, Black, One Size. The pressure the Mueller ankle support provides is adjustable through the use of straps, which is a very nice feature. However, the Mueller brace is bulky and is not comfortable to wear with dress shoes.

I was excited to happen upon this Neoprene support. It seemed sleek and was subtle in appearance. I was not disappointed when I received it. The black is relatively discreet and the thickness is minimal compared to the Mueller brace. The neoprene brace is easy to slip on. It stretches in order to place it on the ankle but does not shift during wear. I wear this neoprene brace with work shoes and when I get home switch to the Mueller support.

The only con I've found is that the neoprene support does not yield the level of pressure that the Mueller support provides. Again, the Mueller support can be adjusted to the level of pressure the individual needs; the neoprene brace provides a good deal of pressure but I would like more. Because the neoprene support lacks straps, the pressure that is applied is relatively even across the ankle and cannot be adjusted. Admittedly, if the neoprene product had straps, it would probably be too bulky to wear with work shoes.

Here is the information found on the container with regard to size selection:

Small: Men's Shoe Size 6-9
Women's Shoe Size 7-10

Medium: Men's Shoe Size 9-11
Women's Shoe Size 10-12

Large: Men's Shoe Size 11-13
Women's Shoe Size 12-14

XL: Men's Shoe Size: 14+
Women's Shoe Size: 15+

All in all a fine product. I like having something I can wear during the work day but I have to switch to a Mueller support in the evening.
