Bulky and uncomfortable, May 25, 2008
I purchased this shoulder support after I strained my shoulder playing sports. I was hoping it would help limit my shoulder movement and allow my shoulder to heal. However, because the support is so bulky, it would not allow my arm to hang flush to my body. This actually caused my shoulder to ache continuously, which was extremely uncomfortable and defeated the purpose of wearing the support.
Pros:
-Inexpensive compared to other options
-Easy to put on (with someone's help)
-Provides good support vs. taping or wrapping
-Immobilizing strap attachment provides additional support
Cons:
-Bulky and bunches up under your arm
-Holds your arm in unnatural hanging position
-Pretty much impossible to put on by yourself
-Very difficult to adjust without assistance if you have to wear for long periods
-Makes you hot and sweaty if worn for long periods

SHOULDER CONTRAINT, April 19, 2008
I FOUND THE McDavid Shoulder Support through Amazon after a brief search in my local area failed to produce the desired item. My dcotor diagnosed my shoulder injury as an "abused muscle strain" and recommended a month of limited use, minimal elevation and no lifting, twisting or stretching. The McDavid brace is a snug and comfortable reminder of my limitations. It is durable and well constructed. The only thing I would like to see improved is a wider chest strap with a larger velco zone.

Not for busty women!, July 20, 2009
This review is from: McDavid Shoulder Support with Strap (Sports)
I ordered this product to help with the pain of my rotator cuff tendonitis.
There is no sizing chart, so I used a chart from a different but similar product to guess what size to order. It was WAY off. I am 5'4" average build female with a DD chest, and a medium did not fit at all. I could get the velcro chest strap to touch under my armpit, and managed to see that the pad on top of my shoulder had "tented" up on the edge closest to my neck to the point I could put a fist underneath it. The arm band was way too tight, and my upper arms are not big. The portion of the neoprene in front of my neck was actually choking me.
I ordered this style of support despite having seen a review elsewhere warning women with large chests that it would not work; I just had to see for myself. Even if I swapped this product for a larger size, I do not think it would ever fit me properly.
The "bulkiness" people have spoken of in their reviews refers to the top of the shoulder area; there is a 1/4 - 1/2" thick chunk of neoprene sewn onto the top surface of brace for some reason. It looks and feels like a football shoulder pad (on a female, at least)!
It came with one black-and-white sheet with some instructions. They were technically correct, but difficult to understand even with the product right in front of me. I just used trial and error trying it on until it looked right, and I never even got to the strap system.
The stitching on the neoprene seemed adequate.
If it had fit, I would have kept the support, but my two "McDavid Shoulder Support with Straps" are going back a.s.a.p.
I am giving it 1 star because of the lack of a size/measurement chart, and for how it does not fit women well.
