5.0 out of 5 stars Great Knee Pad for Grappling Sports, Only One Per Order
Over the course of practicing jiujitsu, I have used about six different knee pads. Quality-wise, I think this is the best knee pad so far. 2.0 out of 5 stars Thinner Pads
I had a pair for several years, same brand, same basic style. They changed the thickness. Now they are harder to get on and off and they are flimsier.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Knee Pad for Grappling Sports, Only One Per Order, December 23, 2010

Over the course of practicing jiujitsu, I have used about six different knee pads. Quality-wise, I think this is the best knee pad so far. It is thin and light so it takes nothing away from your knee's mobility, range or speed. It is padded enough to protect against "gentle" knee slams against padded surfaces common in sports like judo, wrestling or jiujitsu. It is machine washable and can be reverse-used, if you prefer red color. I have had it for about a month now without a single thread coming off, so I think it is very durable as well. Another review complained about the lack of air circulation but I have never had an issue with it. In my opinion, a person experiencing circulation issues with this knee pad would likely have those issues with any other ones in the market.

This is a "thin" type knee pad designed primarily to alleviate light impacts and allow heat retention to reduce sports injury. This is not a "front shield" type knee pad designed for heavy-weight or high-impact protection. So while it is ideal for grappling sports, it may not be suitable if you need to put a lot of weigh on your knees for a long periods of time (laying bricks, welding walls, etc.).

Finally, the description does not make it entirely clear but it is only one knee pad per order. So it is slightly more expensive than some other kneepads, but I think the quality makes it worthwhile.

4.0 out of 5 stars Comfortable support for Iaido practice., April 8, 2010
I use two McDavid Knee Pads for Iaido practice since there is a lot of kneeling involved on a hard surface. The pads are thick enough to keep your knees protected from any floor impact and the support is perfect for someone who has weakening knees. The only problem is there isn't any air circulation to the backs of your knees so they get sweaty fast. Otherwise, these knees pads do the job.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for Volleyball, October 22, 2009

I like the neoprene because it keeps the knee warm. The padding is pretty good too, but it should be a little bigger top to bottom. I couldn't find anything with a bigger pad. The pad does a nice job on wood volleyball courts, it lasts about 1-2 years before it needs to be replaced (this is my 3rd set). The padding also doesn't tear as easily as wrestling knee pads, it tends to slide on the floor more which is much better because it doesn't slide off the knee when you dive for a ball. If you want neoprene and padding, this is the best knee pad available.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for grappling, August 24, 2010

I do a lot of wrestling, grappling and MMA and these kneepads are pretty sturdy for all these sports. I have also used the Brute wrestling kneepads and the McDavids are better quality in terms of the material and stitching.
