From the supplier: The McDonald's restaurant in Israel has come to an agreement with a group of Israeli investors to build a potato processing plant in Israel. The plan followed an earlier rejection by the Israeli cabinet of an application by McDonalds to import some $500,000 worth of french fries. Israel has had trouble encouraging the development of its potato industry, and the possible influx of imported fries will only undercut the market potential of domestic fries.
