Excellent book, but some problem from publisher,

I like A-4, so I purchased this book. I know A-4 has not a good looking like Tomcat or Eagle. I just need some information about its history, combat record and variation. This book match my requirement. Its character is plenty. In combat record, this book introduces all wars which A-4 took part in, for example Vietnam War, Middle East War, Falklands Islands War and Gulf War. But this book like its brother, Panavia Tornado, another book from same publisher, includes few pictures, just has four pages color pictures, no drawing. I think this layout could not match someone's requirement. And there are publishing wrong in a few pages. But if you are a Skyhawk fans, don't hesitate to buy it. It is the complete Skyhawk's book you can find in market, of course except pictures.

Very Informative,

A good coverage of this aircraft from development to employment, covering unique export versions of the aircraft as well as the main stream US versions. Well supported with images to be of value to those doing model aircrafts as well as history buffs.
Well written and is one of the better additions to the crowood aviation series of books. Detailed information was presented in a manner that was easy to read and readily comprehensible even by those with little knowledge of military aircraft. Easily worth the price of the book, when you consider that it would take several "cheaper" books to be as comprehensive as this one.

Author's own words,

Hello,I hope that you will consider A-4 Skyhawk for your collection. This is the most comprehensive book on the market on this wonderful aircraft, and there are many interesting, and some previously unpublished, photos of the Scooter. I have included interviews with pilots who flew the A-4 in Vietnam and have included a discussion of each Skyhawk variant. I know the book is pricey, but if you flew the Skyhawk, this is a must. Brad

The Scooter,

This review is from: McDonnell Douglas A-4 Skyhawk (Crowood Aviation) (Hardcover)
Pilots who flew this small, subsonic aircraft loved it. They nicknamed it "the Scooter". Maneuverable, lightweight, but could carry a lot of bombs, this plane was a favorite in the 50's through the early '70's. Over 2900 of these planes were built and used by dozens of nations in the world.
Simple to build, maintain, easy to fly, took a beating and came home, what more could you ask for? Many Excellent black and white photos, some color pages. There are line drawings and details about every version made and experimental types as well. The narrative includes operational history of the plane, stories from the pilots which help to show this excellent warplane in the light it deserves. It is pricey, but I would recommend this book for aviation buffs and those who want a comprehensive book on a very important plane in US Naval history.

On my copy the Preface is cutoff and Chapter One starts on the next page, this looks to me like an editing mistake. Was this ever corrected ? How can I get one done right? danwebb@pacbell.net
