A stylish, happy-ending book for toddlers,
By A Customer
This review is from: McDuff Moves in (Goodnight) (Hardcover)
Our toddler loves McDuff Moves In. I like to think it's because of the stylish, 1920's-era illustrations. The colours and images are unlike those of any other books in our collection. The matt colours are perfect for the wet, night setting. Art Deco textiles, wallpaper and hair styles make it even more interesting. The illustrations are backed up by great text. Frequent animal sounds like "Woof!" and "Hiss!" make it fun to read aloud, and a perceptive two year-old will join in. The dialogue is interesting, and I found myself experimenting with inflection. It's nice to change things a little on the 60th time through! If you are looking for a book with a difference, try McDuff Moves In.

Fantastic!,

I own this book, as well as others in the series. They are just great! My mom owns a Westie, perfectly named Duffy(he got the name before we new about the books), and the illustrator captures the essence of the Westie. Every picture is perfectly drawn to show the character of a Westie. I love the author as well. I have been a teacher and have always read Ms. Wells' books to my students and the McDuff series is loved by all. McDuff moves in is just a fun book to read and I recommend it to all ages.

McDuff is Magnificent!,
By A Customer
This review is from: McDuff Moves in (Goodnight) (Hardcover)
My husband & I were thrilled to stumble across this enchanting series of books about McDuff, the "child" of Lucy & Fred, who is at his happiest reading the comics with Fred or nibbling at his favorite treat of rice pudding and snappy sausages. We were initially drawn to the books because McDuff so resembles our only "child" Phoebe, a little Lhasa Apso. This series has become our "gift of choice" for the little friends in our lives...and their first comment is always,"Oh! It's Phoebe!" I strongly recommend this book for children 3 and older...McDuff's expressions and the eye-catching illustrations will capture children's interest, and the simple, amusing stories will make this series one to be read again and again.

I really enjoyed McDuff moves in. The illustrations are wonderful.. Only Westie owners could have done them so well. Any dog owner would enjoy this book. Its really not just for small children. I love the way its set in the past, looks like the 1940s to me.

The Kids Love This Book,
By
This review is from: McDuff Moves in (Goodnight) (Hardcover)
When I was a working librarian, I read this books (and the others)to my storytimes. When I retired I started to volunteer in an inner city school. I was not certain how the children would react to the book. I am now in my sixth year reading to Preschool, Kindergarten and First Grade. They hear the first four books each year and they always ask me to repeat the books. The line about "no one had ever asked him to come in" always gets a great response. I think everyone should read these McDuff books. So many classes can't be wrong!

Strange to say, but this little book will bring tears to your eyes. It captures the essence of the love and devotion every true dog lover feels for his/her canine companion [and every dog feels for his/her master].

This is a wonderful book. I have a Westie named
MacDuff and Rosemary Wells has captured the
essence of the Westie spirit. The illustrations
are great -- I could swear Susan Jeffers used
*my* MacDuff as a model.
A great book with a very happy ending.

Hey! She wrote about my dog!,

McDuff is the quintessential Westie! Clever, endearing, sharp as a tack, he is a joy to know. I had a wonderful Westie named MacDuff who left this world back in 1993. Now I know that Duffy Dog lives on! Thank you Rosemary and Susan
