Product Description

Product Description

Name: Water Clan Dragon 3
Manufacturer: McFarlane Toys
Release Date: February 2006
Series: Dragons Series 3
Details (Description): The crystal blue waters of the Southern seas have long been home to some of the best fishing waters the planet over. But something dangerous lurks down deep beneath the waves, where the pure blue fades to midnight black and the broken hulls of a thousand ships serve as the forgotten tombs of sailors long since lost to the land of the living. Many have made a very nice life for themselves hoisting their nets into these waters, but they do so with the knowledge that members of the Water Dragon Clan glide somewhere down there, through the darkness below.

From the Manufacturer

The mythos that began with McFarlane's Dragons 1 and 2 continues with Dragons 3. Six new intricately detailed figures of the original Clans were created to drive dragon fans stark raving mad. These dragons just keep getting cooler.

Wow! This dragon will probaly be the #1 favorite of all the series (Besides the Sorceress boxed-set for series 3). Why? It's GOURGEOUS! Series 3 Water Clan Dragon is, in a lot of ways, like its series 1 brother, except for wings. His back legs are different as well. Instead, his back legs have huge flat fins like wings. With this one, the dragon has an eel-like tail, like series 1 water clan. But unlike series 1, this ones tail is BENDABLE! His hands have long claws that are webbed and his eyes have a marble black gleam. This ones face has a skeletal structure to it, like series 1 fire dragon. A problem is the base is a little under done but the dragon is to beautiful, it more than makes up for it. The dragon is also white (like the fire clan dragon in series 1) with blue, black, and yellow streaked across him. And when you compare him to the other dragons, he seems to be the biggest. HOWEVER, there is a problem with the packaging. The package bends his, gigantic, back fins to a point that they rub together in a way that makes his legs look funny(IF YOU WANT TO - you CAN bend the fins the way you want, this dragons fins are durable). I've also heard that some of the bases have the hole (for the pole to hold him up) at an angle that puts the dragon at an annoying lean that makes him fall over. BUT besides that, this dragon is a -MUST- for any McFarlane Dragon collector.

This the the best of series 3, a magnificent Dragon and since it is supported by a rod, you can make full use of it's articulation. The fins and frill are translucent and look great, especially in sunlight.

Definately the best looking of all the dragons so far, in all three series. The photo really doesn't do the coloration justice, and it really has to be seen to be believed. Amazingly cool design for this fish/sea serpent inspired dragon.

The 'leg' fins are molded a little too close to one another, and rub together in a way that makes them almost impossible to move without possible damage. Of course, these dragons have little articulation to speak of, and are really meant to be displayed one way only - otherwise the paint and sculps don't match up from part to part!

The metal display rod IS on a slight angle, but it is more to counter balance the rather large figure with the relatively smallish base. The fit of the rod into the dragon, however, is EXTREMELY tight and I actually had to resort to running the figure under hot water before inserting the pole.

I have absolutely no trouble displaying, now, and this is by far my favorite dragon!

As one of the more exotic McFarlane dragons, this is one of my favorites. The assembling process wasn't too much of a hassle.

Standing 10-inch tall with the base, I like how dominating it is over my other McFarlane dragons. I think the paint job could have been done a little better. The blue color on my dragon is really light--almost white, and the web between the spikes of its arms and legs are almost brown, not human skin-color like shown in Amazon's picture.

Another negative point about this dragon is that due to packaging, its long tail and its legs are bent to tightly tie the dragon to the box. So, the dragon looks bent out of shape after unpacking. The good thing is these dragons are made of very durable plastic, so you can bend them the way you want them but that may take some time.

The base is lightweight but surprisingly holds the figure well...no wobbling.

This dragon I think is very nicely sculpted however, I don't think they took much time working on the base. When I opened my dragon and placed the metal rod into the base, it stuck out at a 45 degree angle. Instead of the rod going up and down it stuck out at a horrible angle. When I attached the dragon to it, it would just pull the base down. I even tried bending the rod, that just made it swing to the side. I have the dragon now leaning against the side of my shelf in order to keep it in the air. Whoever drilled thw hole in my base drilled it crooked. Lets just say it looked better in the package then what it does now leaning way over on its base!
