So first and foremost I'd like to mention that I'm an avid Halo collector. I have a somewhat compact collection of all my favorite figures, both closed and opened for display. When Halo 3 figures were released, I collected all red armor variants to create a red team and decided to do the same when the Reach figures came out. This lead to plenty of experience with this particular figure and since nobody has written a review I'd like to let people know what they're getting.

So to begin, I'd like to talk about the articulation. Halo 3 figures had vast articulation with stiff joints to lock figures into great positions. For some reason, McFarlane didn't give Reach the same luxury. I've had multiple types of Reach figures, varying from Elites, to Spartans, to even Grunts, and I can say for all of them that only about 50% have stiff-enough joints to put them in the positions I'd like. For my red team I've accumulated 6 Spartans at this point, 4 of which I used this red CQC as the base body. Out of the 4 figures, 2 have satisfactory joints, 1 has OK joints, and 1 has really loose joints. Now these figures have amazing articulation but sometimes too much can be costly. I can't really put most of them in the exact positions I'd like due to their loose bodies and I've had to lean 1 or 2 of them on something else because they won't stand on their own. Then comes their weapons. This red CQC comes with a huge shotgun, which looks like it's uncomfortable for the figure to hold. Awkward even. On a good chunk of these Reach figures the stocks of the weapons (from the handle to the back part) seems to be a little too long for the figure's arm to handle. On real long guns, stocks rest on the gap between the pectoral muscle and shoulder. These figures don't achieve that very well.

This figure has great paint and detail, but, as with all McFarlane Halo figures, there's the risk of mold degradation. Some have loose joints, some don't. Some have really sloppy paint, some don't. It's kind of based on luck, unless you buy from a seller that has it open and describes the item to you. Luckily, mine is fine, has good paint and decent joints. I am very satisfied with the purchase. I recommend this figure, but only for collectors ages 12 and up, because these things can also be very fragile.

Despite the negative reviews I decided to buy this figure and couldn't be more happy with it. The packaging had some shelf wear but was intact and in no way bent or otherwise damaged. The figure itself had no problems, all joints were tight but easy to move, The shotgun the figure comes with is slightly problematic for the figure to hold, but is an okay accessory.

Good figure. Good detail. I reccomend but I had a couple loose joints and i would like to see a gun other than a shotgun or AR. But good!!!!
