The tale of Elizabeth Bathory (1560-1614) is a mentally stimulating one. A woman so obsessed with youth and power that she quickly sunk into madness and began an tradition of torture and sadism and bathing in human blood. This figurine was released as McFarlane's third installment of their Monster action figure series, a series that focuses on creatures, people, and legends that come from another day. Other figurines were Attila the Hun, Billy the Kid, Jack the Ripper, Resputin, and Vlad the Impaler. While some are hit and miss in terms of whether they truly belong or not, you may elect to purchase the whole enchilada in one knarly and semi expensive set. A collector's club exclusive is the accessory pack, which die hard collectors would jump all over.

This statue shows the young woman immersed in a bathtub filled with cooling human blood. The tub itself is quite detailed, with cool dragons, mermaids, and miscellaneous carvings. The color is bronze type shade, very appealing, looking almost like an iron tub. It even has the old fashioned claws at the bottom - nice touch! The white interior is painted with red to make it appear like the life-giving liquid, and is likely the coolest part of the entire set, looking as realistic as possible for this form of craftsmanship for this price. Sadly the outside brushes with red aren't too my liking as much; leaving off the deeper red paint strokes and just leaving it stained on the outside would have served it better.

The queen herself is beautifully rendered, with one moveable arm and a head that is slightly adjustable. With the small curved hand, there's a place for her to hold the knife that accompanies the figure. Amazing detail is granted for such a small face - you can even see the minor impressions in her knees.

This is a piece of art I would say, more than a toy. I just don't see a Parent or etc...giving this to a little kid for a gift Unless it's Wednesday from Addams Family...I LOVE it! 5 stars ...
