Unbelievable posing to be engaged as a couple in love, August 18, 2010
This review is from: McFarlane's Perfect Bride (Silhouette Special Edition) (Mass Market Paperback)
Connor McFarlane is a Corporate Invester for resorts, hotels, etc. He comes into town to get make amends with his sister and get to know his son, CJ, better. As he meets with those over the resort to see if his Dad's Company would like to buy out the Thunder Canyon Resort, he gets to know the people of the town better.
I have to say Christine done a good job portraying a small town and how everyone knows everyone elses business. Nothing is a secret.
Tori doesn't like the idea of Connor buying out the resort but when they meet and he asks her out on a first date she goes for it. She begins to spend a lot of time with Connor. She is one to speak her opinion straight forward and when she asks Connor about his plans, he doesn't feel he should tell her everything.
The part where Tori pretends to be engaged to Connor would make a part for a good movie but in real life I don't see many women going for that. The ex-wife has shown up and is trying to take CJ, the son, back with her and not fulfill her bargain to let Connor have him for the summer. So Connor asks Tori to pretend to be engaged to help him win custody of CJ. Tori as a teacher had an interest in CJ.
Overall I thought Christine's other books were so much better than this one. There were just too many sex scenes in it for me. I go for the story more than the part of what happens behind closed doors. It is interesting but not as good as her Bravo series.

Tori's found her Special Someone, Connor!, June 28, 2010
This review is from: McFarlane's Perfect Bride (Silhouette Special Edition) (Mass Market Paperback)
What a wonderful addition to the Montana Mavericks Thunder Canyon Cowboys.
Connor MacFarlane isn't really a cowboy but he thinks he might want to be one. He's from Philadelphia, PA and a hotel magnate but is spending the summer in Thunder Canyon trying to mend his relationships with his sister and 15 y.o. son. His sister, Melanie, has settled in Thunder Canyon and is the owner of a guest ranch now which is doing well even in these down economic times. With CJ he has always been too busy to be a good father to him and now he's divorced from CJ's mom so it is time he feels he needs to make the effort to get to know CJ, it's almost too late! There is the Thunder Canyon Resort that is also pulling at Connor more and more as a property for the hotel chain, he'd love to buy it and hopes before summer is over he does. He's not a particularly nice guy really but maybe he should change that!
Tori Jones, local high school English teacher, has Connor come looking for his son at her house and is so rude to Tori as well as his son. CJ has come over with Tori's star pupil 15 y.o. Jerilyn. They have a budding romance for 15 y.o. kids. She does understand that CJ has given his father a scare but Connor's behavior is so bad! He apologizes later and becomes interested in her as a summer romance. He really does like Tori but she wouldn't fit into his life in Philadelphia he thinks and he isn't ready for another commitment he wouldn't take care with.
CJ's Mom changes her mind about leaving him in Thunder Canyon and wants to take CJ back to Europe with her and enroll him in a boarding school-he has fallen behind with the divorce and all but CJ doesn't want to go and Conner feels he needs to fight for CJ. Conner thinks it will go better at the custody hearing if he's engaged just like his ex-wife is. He thinks Tori would be the best pretend fiancee and she goes along for CJ's sake but of course she finds herself falling in love with Conner. What happens now?
There's much more to the story, I feel I've almost told too much now. I love all the secondary characters with their contributions to make this a Great read!
