This axe is smaller than you would guess by the pictures provided and comes with a very dull edge. The design takes some skill and practice to get used to (I'm coming from using a single-bevel carving hatchet from Woodcraft made in Sweden with a straight edge). I can see the usefulness in the choppy heel vs. the dicey carvey curved tip. The tip feels nimble enough to nip out the face of a wood sprite log carving but the choppy end is underpowered due to the small size of the axe. With this tip I'd venture she'll be good for bowl carving and perhaps even the bowl of a spoon as the axe is so small. Don't get it if you'd ever need it for kindling- she's underpowered for Real Work. Also, PLYWOOD HANDLE?? At almost $80 I expected hickory.

It became one of my favorite tools, once the edge was ground to the way I wanted it.
