Born in Seattle but raised in Ithaca, New York, I've come full circle, moving back to the Finger Lakes region in 1991, marrying my best friend's brother, and continuing to write without having to live across from Tompkins Square Park. My bread-and-butter is El-Hi textbooks, and on a typical day I may work both on Kindergarten science and high school literature, or on 10th grade social studies test prep and MCAT Verbal Reasoning. We have a new house we built from the ground up on 150 acres of fields and woods, where we raise chickens, ducks, peacocks, guinea fowl, chocolate and yellow labs, turtles, fish, and our daughter, Olivia.
I purchased this book after finishing the tests in the ati TEAS V study manual and I was shocked when I found out that the science section was completely different (much more difficult) than what was in ati's book. This is very accurate version of the test and is a good simulation of what you will actually encounter on test day. I would highly recommend getting this book to prepare for the test it gives you an idea of what the actual science section will be like and gives you a much more accurate idea of what you need to study on. I missed 1 question on the science section in the ATI version of the book and missed 10 on the McGraw Hills it gave me a much better idea of what I needed to study on. Highly recommended!
Passed the TEAS Exam on my first attempt with this book!! The questions on the practice tests are very accurate to the actual test, some are even in the same format. It also provides topics under each subject so you know what to study which is very helpful & the shipping is great!

I purchased this book because I could not see myself paying $50 or more on the "official" TEAS book from their website. I took all 5 practice tests from this book and reviewed my answers over the course of just 1 week. I felt very confident as I was taking the TEAS V, as I recognized the subjects and format of the questions I had been studying. I scored a 91 on the test; that score was in the 99th percentile for the nation! I would say the questions and subjects covered in this practice book are a very accurate representation of those on the TEAS V and I have already recommended this book to several friends who are taking the TEAS soon.
This book has a wealth of information that is similar to that of the actual TEAS test. At first glance, one will find test questions after test questions, but it is from those the answers to those test questions that the real tutoring comes from. Pay special attention to the science portion of the test, you will not regret it!!!
I have taken the TEAS 3 times, after i took it the 2nd time a Dean of the college recommend this book and I passed the test with a 62 after using this book, DEFINITELY recommend for those who are struggling to pass the test!

I Studied for about 2 weeks before the test and passed. The best recommendation I could give is to take the practice tests first, then, according the questions you missed, study the explanations then retake each test. Research each individual question if you need to online.
I took the TEAS V two days ago and scored a 92%. I took practice tests over the course of two months, and probably only truly "studied" a couples weeks before the test. However, I took A&P, microbiology and biology only one semester before this test and that helps A LOT. Things were fresh in my memory so I scored well on the science section.
I used the McGraw Hill book ALONG WITH the official ATI Review Manual. The ATI review manual goes into much more detail explaining answers, goes over multiple practice problems, and outlines what you need to know with very helpful layouts than the McGraw Hill book. The McGraw-Hill is good if you just want to do timed, practice tests and review your answers with short explanations. I have test anxiety so it was good to have a book that came with 5 tests and let me practice over and over and over...
I will also say that the real TEAS V exam resembled the ATI Review Manual more than the McGraw-Hill book FOR CERTAIN AREAS of the test. For instance, the math section in McGraw Hill covered things that weren't on the real test (like, the radius/circumference of a circle and a lot of geometry). McGraw Hill's questions were also poorly worded sometimes (and because of it, I got answers wrong). The science & english portions, I think, were just as helpful as the science & english portions in the ATI Reivew Manual (although, like I said, ATI offers a lot more review & details). I have no idea if questions on the TEAS V exam change regularly so this could be an honest statement from me that proves differently for someone else.
*NOTE ABOUT THE TEAS V TEST* The English sections were easy for me because I've always been good at English and grammar.Read more ›
