1.0 out of 5 stars Definitely NOT a good Study Guide, March 12, 2008
This review is from: McGraw-Hill's HVAC Licensing Study Guide (Paperback)
First, the book comes with an Errata Sheet for all of the answers that are incorrect in the book. Second, I'm going through this book and second guessing myself on answers, having to go pull resources, because there are even more incorrect answers. They should have gotten it together on the first pass or at least made sure the second pass was correct. You will not master anything by reading this book. Each section is totally lacking in information about the subject matter. The only way that this book can be used as a study guide is by using the questions that are in it and looking up the answers on your own because you can't trust the book. It was a waste of money. I would have rather paid $100 for a good book than the $30 I wasted on this one.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't Waste Your Time or Money, November 9, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have to agree with the 1rst reviewer of this product...I took the HVAC exam 10/2009 and failed. I decided to purchase some study material to prepare me for the second go and so I purchased this book. One would have to believe that i have an advantage here becuause i've seen the direction which the state of California has taken in their exam and I recollect a good portion of the question enough to say that if i saw similar questions they would jump out at me....Nope...not with this study guide. with the exception of some familiar charts and diagrams the material is bad. The questions are no where similar or remotely close to what was on my exam, the information provided before every practice exam is minimal and then they go and throw in some true and false questions that are useless because there are no true and false question on the state exam. if that isn't a dead give away

The book gives tips and information about taking the exam and mentions that we are asked to mark our answers by completely blackening the answer space...WHAT?

This book must be outdate by eons because everybody knows that the exams are on computer not on paper...

Take my word for it this is a complete waste of time and money i'm sending my copy back as we speak...

1.0 out of 5 stars What a Joke!, June 19, 2011
This review is from: McGraw-Hill's HVAC Licensing Study Guide (Paperback)
I agree as well. I bought this book on ebay and since I cannot return it for a refund I am taking my angst out here! The book is a complete joke! I was immediately suspicious of the first chapter because the review questions for that section started off with material that wasn't even mentioned in the section! I assumed that maybe they just got the questions mixed up with another chapter, but I was unable to prove the theory. So I got online to see if anyone else had complaints about this book... All I can say is that I sure wish I had checked these reviews before I spent my money! DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK!!! It will not help you!

Here in Oklahoma the licensing exams are hard enough without adding the frustration of study materials that are hard to make sense of. The book states that the two authors have more "industrial tech" credentials than most people earn in a lifetime, and have written heaps of study material. I'd like to suggest that they stop and take a writing class or three!

And thanks amazon for allowing me a way to vent some of my frustration.
