1.0 out of 5 stars Worst Review Book, October 11, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: McGraw-Hill's PRAXIS I and II, 2nd Ed. (The Praxis Series) (Paperback)
This book seems very helpful for the Praxis exams. It has several practice exams, and sections explaining important material that is on the test. However, when using a practice book, I expect the answers to be correct....otherwise what is the point? On the math section, there were several questions where the "correct" answer given was CLEARLY wrong. For example, the book says that the angle made when the minute hand of a clock is on the 12 and the hour hand is on the 3 is a 45 degree angle.....however, this is clearly a 90 degree angle (since a circle has 360 degrees. Since these questions are wrong, I have to question the other answers presented in the book.

2.0 out of 5 stars Only good for math, January 18, 2010
This review is from: McGraw-Hill's PRAXIS I and II, 2nd Ed. (The Praxis Series) (Paperback)
Some of the practice tests in this book are pretty atrocious, particularly in the writing section. Although on the actual PRAXIS test you can only select one error to correct, MULTIPLE sentences in the practice tests had more than one error or were so horribly written in general that they would require a massive overhaul to make sense. Similarly, the reading section seemed to draw somewhat tenuous conclusions from the passages, meaning that I often felt like I was choosing between two halfway right answers. It is fine for studying math as it does contain a review of commonly tested areas and has four full math tests. I would certainly recommend the ETS study guide over this one, though it only has one Math, one Reading and one Writing test.

1.0 out of 5 stars 1 star for Kindle version, March 23, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Excited to get a Kindle version, I was DISAPPOINTED to find that many of the example questions are unreadable--even with "magnification."

It seems these examples are "pictures" rather than text. They lack both sufficient size and the necessary contrast. With my (corrected) astigmatism they are, again, unreadable.

A pity. The Kindle is a great format for this type of book.

So now I'll have to lug an unwieldy book around...
