I bought this product to keep the water in my fountain clear. Additionally I was concerned about not killing my cat or the local birds. It works well for me; water is clear, cat is not dead and as far as I can tell it's not killing the birds either. I'll buy the 64oz size next now that I've established it works OK.

When my 30 gallon patio fountain started needing an algaecide, I looked locally but could only find swimming pool strength. Bought this product after reading positive reviews and am very pleased. Works just as other reviewers described and hasn't hindered daily visits from wildlife. To get the water really clear, I had to shock it twice, but a few drops weekly is all that is required now. The smaller bottle will last a long time.

I have had algae problems with my 100 gallon outdoor fountain on and off for years. I have tried various things, none of which was satisfactory. Finally, I called a fountain manufacturer in San Francisco. They said use Fountec. Period. Nothing else. So I did and the results are fantastic. The water is crystal clear. I do not have to worry about killing the birds that come for a drink. Last but not least, I only have to add 1/2 teaspoon a week for maintenance.

This product works quite well. I've used it for the past 3 weeks after cleaning both my outdoor fountains. One is a 10 gallon and the other is a 30 gallon. Neither fountain has any algae growth, green, orange, or black. The water is as clear and clean smelling as can be for outside. And, I only have to use it once a week. With my old product, which I had to use everyday to every other day, I would still get algae growth starting at the beginning of the second week. It also smelled like chlorine. I haven't yet noticed anything off with the birds which frequent my fountains.

I purchased this Fountec Algaecide and Clarifier after my mom told me about it. I have 4 fountains and this product is simply amazing. I was cleaning my fountains about once a month to remove algae buildup. I received this product and added the required amount of drops and didn't even have to clean my fountains before I added the drops...the product took care of any algae buildup that was already there. I highly recommed this product to anyone who has fountains!!

I was looking for a product that would clear the algae from a small fountain (30 gal) we built ouselves from a large garden pot. We needed the water to be safe for our dog who has an occasional drink and the birds that frequent the area. This product has solved the problem.

I received my product very quickly. It has done a great job at keeping the algae out of my fountain. Most important to me though, was that I get an algaecide that would not be harmful to my animals. My cat drinks from my fountain everyday and it has not been harmful to him in any way.

I purchased a new, large rock fountain a couple of months ago. At first, I didn't treat the water. In just two days, the water had a green tint and got worse each day, even after adding some hot tub chemicals. I quickly researched algaecides and came across Fountec, which received the best reviews. I quickly ordered it. When it arrived in only two days, I emptied the fountain, refilled it and added the Fountec (only one drop per gallon - for my fountain it was 25 drops total). My fountain has been crystal clear for two months, with no sudsing (bubbling). All I do is add a weekly dose (one drop per gallon) and it stays that way. I normally don't write reviews becsuse the product doesn't live up to the hype, but this one does. I hope it works as well for you. It takes a lot of hassle out of maintaining a fountain. Next time I'll buy the bigger bottle; it's inexpensive as well.

I Have an INDOOR fountain, and this stuff works beautifully! It keeps the water crystal clear, and doesn't let it get stail and dirty. My dog drank from the fountain the day I put it in, and he's doing just fine! By the way, it does say on the bottle "harmless to people and animals", so this must be true!

I have a small desk fountain on the nightstand next to our bed, even using distilled water it keeps getting that clear slimy feeling algae on the inside and the rocks. This clears it right up, and it has even made the fountain run better because it cleared algae from the internal pump.

Also my cat drinks from the fountain regularly, it's actually her favorite spot for water. Used as directed (1 drop per gallon) it's perfectly safe for pets. Yes the bottle has a warning, like the other person mentioned but that is for the undiluted formula. Diluted it's roughly 30ppm which is very low.

Price to product this stuff is also terrific... one drop per gallon, per week, so this stuff will last a very long time. For smaller fountains one bottle should last you years! Great product and will buy again in 5 years when I use it up!
